Went for a portamig 185 in the end. Not sure I need much more for what I'm doing - if I do anything really thick I'll prep the metal and build up the weld in a couple of passes.

Taking wednesday off to get a space in the garage sorted, pick up a gas bottle etc. Then time for a bit of

Irondarren - yes Mr W did the business. will post some pics of welds (the obligatory welding trolley will probably appear soon!). might have to get a cheap second grinder tomorrow so I don't have to keep changing the discs.

It's arrived. One snag was BOC sales staff on training so didn't get my account opened today. Job for tomorrow...

Hoping to get on laying some beads with the in the next couple of days work & wifey permitting.

Need to pick up a few drill bits too for a job on the kit car, and some 3mm steel for making up some reinforcement pieces for the rear uprights that have been attacked with the angry grinder!

Missus is worried (rightly so!) that she'll come home one day and everything made of steel will be attached in one big ball of molten cr&p!
