Projects for over christmas

As bad as me!
All depends on my health - been feeling far better but gallbladder aching again last 2 days. Hope to God the infection isn't back or that's me in hospital again. Damn wiaiting lists worse in Wales than anywhere - 20mph speed limits far more important

Anyway on my list.
Building a modified JD garage cnc plasma cutter
Sorting out a nice vertical drill - rack and pinion table winder playing up
Trying to get my CNC milling machine working - the one with the Heidenhein controls
Finish the rear doors on the very hefty expedition trailer I am still building
Get in some lathe time
Finish off @DAPPH lathe pulley spindle
General tiding up so I can actually find all the tools I have
Oh and have a play with my Christmas present - a 20W laser cutter/engraver

Assuming wife lets me out of her sight as well

Thumbs up was for the list, not the ongoing health worries - hope it's not a recurrence

I need to make inroads into campervanning my Renault Master.
(I'm not saying "do" cos it's a mass of work, and I know I'll spend ages thinking and measuring & fretting over just how & where I'm putting stuff etc - trying to not make mistakes with my meagre talents ).

I've only a general plan of where I'm going to locate stuff (theory is great till you physically offer stuff up) & I know I'm going to have to be adaptive/creative - & all I have atm is a big van with totally bare insides. It doesn't even have cab seats in it atm!

Mainly taking down my old carport and rebuilding bigger to 10ftx21ft x9ft high.

Hoping I can get some sort of decent lift under it ..

Bring it up and we can take some quick measurements and mock it up on the computer.

I've got a box body that's for the same purpose and (because I can) modelled arrangements in Inventor. Was very handy being able to spin things around to visualise different layouts. Once I decided a layout could start refining it to actually create cut lists etc, for the frame.

I plan to finish stripping my CB 500 down, ready for powder coating in the new year. Hopefully i'll have it back together for spring.

Starting off the interior of my own car to use as a promo to show what I can do.Suzuki swift with worn out seats(had leather but swapped them for standard and £150), three hides of blue leather and some orange thread lets see what I can do.

Not enough, my list is endless. Off the top of my head I’ve got
Mill to fix
Motor to replace on the lathe
Band saw to repair
New lights to buy and install in the garage
Drill to overhaul
Another drill to fix
Bender to repair
Cars to service
Back plate to manufacture for a new chuck
Pedestal grinder to tidy up and sort a new pulley for
Another drill to tidy up

Then there’s all the things that I’d actually like to do… which Christmas were you talking about?

I read your list then thought about my list and had to go lay down for a bit in a darkened room!

Replace the single phase motor on the Rong Fu mill with a 3 phase motor and VFD

I find they compost much better and save time if you chuck them in the composter before cooking with the added advantage of no smell .

I'll be tidying the garage up and selling / binning stuff I don't need or want anymore. Maybe service the Surf although I'm thinking of taking it off the road in January to sort the rear axle and suspension links out, it also needs the rocker cover gasket doing and while I'm in there check the valve clearances, also I'm thinking of sending the injectors off for a service...
That'll be on top of anything else that breaks over Christmas.

sounds like how my in-laws liked them, sprouts on in October, must pass the splat test! Yuk, I like them only just cooked, still crunchy

Powder coating is not a wonderful idea for a road vehicle. Better would be epoxy and 2k colour of choice.

Fit a towbar to my new to me 1987 Renault master P35 pickup, its slow but a keeper and as its so old, it only needs mot (CT) every 5 years and it just had a fresh one for the sale, though I think it was done by blind Io given the amount of silly things I have fixed since getting it home. I have a T35 van bar in a shed so just need to alter it where the pickup doesn't have the same rear valance. And I'll find out why the headlights and tailights flash on when you press the brakes while I'm wiring the bar electrics in.

Once that's done, I'm finishing a wood splitter that I started already and the main frame and wedge etc is done now next bit is fitting a front bucket craw ram from a Jcb, and cut out some bucket ears and weld them the ipn near the balance point. The plan is to have the splitter hang horizontally in place of the rear bucket on my Jcb mounted on a pin, and to move the splitter over the logs using the back acter and use the bucket craw lever to split the ram as for now my machine isn't piped for a hammer and one job at a time. I've got a couple of large ash tree's to split so they're good for next winter's heating.

If I get through that lot, I have a defender to finish re-chassis'ing. Its back on its axles now but the company (Shielder) sent the version for a different engine and it was such a massive load of grief and endless calls and missed deadlines to even get it delivered in the first place taking months for a chassis that was "in stock" when I paid in full for it, I couldn't face sending it back. So I need to cut off the 300tdi engine mounts and weld on some 200tdi ones as that's the only difference.

It's being converted to a track bike, so unlikely to see wet weather or have to deal with the rubbish all over our roads. I can't promise it won't end up in a gravel trap at some point though

Sounds like you were trained by our foreman at the foundry, he would have us installing conduit, SWA etc. outside in the winter and working above the furnace offtake in the middle of summer
