only time i disconect mine is on the 2000 bottle is if im swapping an empty put a full one on and i refill the empty . only ever had to change the o ring last month its been on for 50 years 
heres my refill adaptor its just a screw on torch with the one way valve removed and a bulnose threaded on to where the gas nozzle went can fill em of a 47kg bottle for about 50 pence instead of 12 quid

Would your type of bull nose fitting my bottles and where might I purchase something like it and adapt as required.

its a sievert torch. all is needed is a bulnose of ebay and it needs drilling and tapping to fit on to the torch where the nozzle was. someone is flogging a torch and 2 empty bottles on ebay at the mo under 20 quid then u just need a bulnose of an old regulator or a new one of https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17679020...tRp1ZoSDm8jyfrPBAWZNOzT5Q=|tkp:Bk9SR-aizveRZQ

just the torch and an old propane regulator you can screw the bulnose off
Something like this, what do I need to drill and tap and what size drill bit?

cant remember what size and thread i did mine will have to take it to bits and look .i have a spare torch you can have to make one as i have another 2 spare torches

Interesting. Where and how can I get a 47kg propene bottle for under 60 quid? I imagined even propane would be far more expensive.

about 80 quid a refill i got one given full
you can fill the primus 2000 bottles of a 7.5kg one if u want but there over 30 quid a refill i can even fill them of a 47k for quarter of the priceNot easy to invert a 47kg bottle!about 80 quid a refill i got one given full
There are refill kits on aliexpress, I've been tempted to buy one.

nup strung mine upside down in spare garage only used to refill smaller ones till its empty

main shed is forty foot by 20 smaller one just for storage plenty of room for another 6 if i wantedNo such thing as a spare garage!

a couple of scaffold poles and clips and over they go as long as you bar it just bellow the center of gravity
Thanks, I have bottles and torch heads, I like the idea of just refilling my primus bottles from a larger one if need be.cant remember what size and thread i did mine will have to take it to bits and look .i have a spare torch you can have to make one as i have another 2 spare torches
On a couple of occasions I've run out of gas and dearly wished I could have just refilled it from a 3.9kg or 6 kg bottle.

If you are machining a refill adapter make up a hose tail at the same time then you can run the torch from a full size propane bottle for bigger jobs.

just looked i have a spare torch it needs a couple of new o rings fitting and remove the one way valve . ive threaded mine 8.0mm and can also do that for you all is u will need is a regulator . cut it off the pol fitting and drill and tap it m8 and it will screw on to the adaptor . cant remember the proper weight to fill them so will get it of me bruv as he fills all of his . all you do is turn doner bottle upside down screw the 2000 bottle on open valves for a minute and you can hear the liquid gas going in then it will stop. remove the bottle and press the valve down and remove some gas refit and repeat the process then its full .weigh it and fit torch job done
a monkey can do it if its showni also have the adaptor flexi hose with a pol fitting either end for filling the bigger bottles cheap doing it the same way as above , its simple and safe enough. just do it outside though

If you are using a superfire you can fill the bottle to whatever you like as they will cope with liquid.
