He isn't questioning your account of things.its the salesmans
Nothing starts a row on this forum like an r-tech thread. I don't understand why though, if you don't like them don't buy them and stay out of threads mentioning them.
OK, I shall henceforth never again call into question R-Tech dogma. Of course, every single machine is modified in their workshop and rigourously tested prior to despatch - that's why there is a 0% DOA rate.
I would never begin to imply that a 'shop soiled' unit is one that arrived in a damaged box and was stuck into some spare packaging without being checked. The thought would never even cross my mind.
...
I just don't understand why it bothers you so much ? If you don't like them, don't buy one. As for welders being doa out of the box, the one and only welder i have seen doa out of the box was a miller inverter that the last boss bought. I have seen brand new a brand new miller with a dead switch on the panel too, i don't go around slagging off millers though, i have one and would have another if they weren't so expensive.
And there you have it.....that seems to be the idea!I wish id bought the Parweld now. Mind saying that, i would have been perfectly happy with the R-TECH if i hadnt witnessed all the bickering over the brand here.
Sometimes it feels like you just cant win
That. And why it bothers a handful of other members, too. It would be great if people could just give opinions based on experience of a brand / unit, rather than just continue to trot out the same opinion.
" Upgrade" has never been substantiated correct! However test before use certainly has been to me. On arrival I had a test certificate with mine with the previous days date and test welders signature, a used tungsten and cup in the torch. I find it highly unlikely that they "penned" the certificate and shoved some used consumables in the torch for maximum effect.Right, so, one final time and then not another word on the subject from me.
I have nothing against R-Tech machines, there is nothing I personally gain or lose whether someone buys one or not.
I've only 'kept on' because I've never had a straight answer to questions I've raised when people have been enquiring as to 'which welder'.
So, I'm going to summarise the facts and rumours as I see them.
Fact: R-Tech aftersales support is very good (verging on excellent), sorting out problems as quick as they can.
Fact: The machines use reasonably well specced parts.
Fact: The machines are made in the far east.
Rumour: R-Tech test every machine they sell.
Rumour: Every machine is modified and/or upgraded in house.
Rumour: The machines are massively different to identical looking (but differently coloured) ones from other sellers.
The thing is, if you're happy to make a sale for a company based on unsubstantiated rumours, go ahead - I won't question it any more.
Making a personal recommendation is a bit different, but it seems popular to say something more along the lines of "I've got one and it's brilliant, oh by the way, they upgrade and fully test every single machine"...
plus one for that, all of my rtech sets have had test certs and showed signs of use ....." Upgrade" has never been substantiated correct! However test before use has certainly to me. On arrival I had a test certificate with mine with the previous days date and test welders signature, a used tungsten and cup in the torch. I find it highly unlikely that they "penned" the certificate and shoved some used consumables in the torch for maximum effect.
Hang on you said "not another word from me" that's a whole paragraph lolNot implying anything along the lines of "if they're tested, why are some not working on arrival", and this has nothing to do with welders anyway - just a convenient place to put it
A couple of weeks ago I bought a brand new dual fuel cooker. Inside was a stamped and initialled multipoint test card.
When we connected it, two of the gas burners didn't work. Also the oven didn't regulate temperature, instead just getting progressively hotter (up to 290c according to my thermo probe when set to 150).
These points were marked as tested and passed.
Jus' sayin' like.
How the cooker might be made in the same factory as the R-Tech for all we know?I said "on this subject".
That's about a cooker, an entirely different subject altogether
