What's up with you?
Whether they tell the odd porky pie or not and whether people chose to believe it or not is neither here nor there. Is it not better to advise rather than slate.

When i see someone lying Richard,i will call them out.
People read this forum,and spend 300-1500 quid on a welder that they are led to believe......
1)is made in uk
2)is a shop demo unit,not a doa machine repaired
3)is special compared to the other identical welder on ebay that cost 50% less
if you read what a certain member has posted at one stage or another,what you get is a far cry from it
I dont have a gripe with the company,just the blatant lies that get posted here,and people read it and believe it.
Are you connected to Rtech Richard?or any other welding manufacturer?you seem to be very protective

1) I don't think many people think they are made in the uk, I seem to recall there was some mention of them being inspected once they are imported but I thinks it's pretty nailed on they are of Eastern origin (as are any other machines in this price range)
2) see my post above, I know not why, or care why it was sold at a reduced price, but as long as the warranty is honoured then fine.
3) given they are so similar to longevity welders in the us, amongst others, it's a good bet they are generic machines rebadged with perhaps the spec tailored for rtech requirements. The premium you are paying is for dealing with a uk company with a cast iron warranty commitment. That's the way I read it from doing some basic research when I was buying.
Andy24 - The tigmig site is of interest to me, the prices do seem ultra competitive, but the website is frankly a mess (no shipping prices for uk, some pages translated others not, machine specs and descriptions confusing) - I'm not sure I would be prepared to take the jump (am toying with the idea of an ac tig, but can't justify ~£1000) but as I say their prices make me sit up and take note.

I know what your saying about the website , I originally bought the inverter mig from them well over a year ago from eBay so covered by paypal etc . But I have had no issue with them at all , they have always replied to my emails and been every helpful .so I went on to buy the plasma and then the ac/dc tig , I did have an issue with the plasma but they sent me a new torch out and was with me in 3 days no problem since . It's up to the individual at the end of the day , I'm just sharing my experience .

I've just said what I think. I own 3 high end brand machines all of which I bought used. all of which carry different brands. I stated I wouldn't own an RTech for good reason. Seriously do you believe I'm connected to them in any way. I think you know better than to ask me that. All I stated was there was not really a need to attack at a personal level. I wasn't been protective at all especially not to RTech as they don't need my help. I know what they are and I also know you do too. And I don't disagree with your facts on them. I don't have any grievances towards them either.
As I said above anyone can post in the forum and can call themselves what they like. I merely said it looked strange that on your first post you chose and R-tech topic to tell us about tigmig. The mods can see the IP address and a lot more besides so I flagged it up to them ...Richard suggested that the context you posted in made sense to reply in an R-tech thread. I accepted he might well be right.
You are not aware of the history and the fact that WMJ always has a pop at R-Tech anytime he can....none of us know why..
I see absolutely no reason why you should leave the forum. You have explained you are Andy from Cornwall thats fine. All I have suggested is that in the buying a welder section you start up a thread telling everyone about your experiences of the tigmig brand. We all need to buy new machines from time to time perhaps thats the way to go in future?
Thats great I am all for saving money. I dont have much . But can you appreciate that many forums are targeted by sellers in one form or another to improve sales??
Absolutely NOT . In fact I do not even get any discount from them. I dont buy my consumables from them either.

If you do need to contour cut you would need an ARMS machine which are coming into the UK now (automatically find registration marks) But I have never seen or used any chinese ones yet.
That link I sent will cut decent lengths (2 to 3 metres) and is 610 wide. They also do an SC which is cream in colour but is less accurate and prone to problems.
Sadly he has put his prices up now he has seen off all competition and got the sole UK distribution rights for LIYU.

A forum member asked me about Vinyl cutters as i used to provide tech support for a chinese guy who sells vinyl cutters......that very same guy owes me 40k but I still feel obliged to tell anyone who asks the truth. The cutters he sells can not be bettered in the UK as he has sole UK supplier rights.
I hope this helps and puts your mind at rest. The only person who is supported by R-Tech in some form is double boost and John refrains from posting much for that very reason. John actually makes You tube videos on a variety of subjects under the name double boost. Very informative and from what I can see even those that include R-Tech are unbiased.....

Hearing that from someone with experience of that particular seller is reassuring, I will certainly start looking a bit deeper now.
Out of curiosity what was the postage rates like, and exchange rates etc? Also did you get stung for any import taxes or suchlike?
Also, I wouldn't take any offence with the stance ukracer took, it wouldn't have been the first time we have had threads hijacked by new members who turned out to be spammers or who had vested interests. I'm sure no offence was meant.
I think on the mig and plasma the postage was free , the tig I got recently cost me £26 for postage , I used one of the currency converters on line and it turned out it wasn't far off cost me around £8 more come end up , no import taxes etc as it's in Europe . Keep an eye on there eBay items as they often have best offer options that's how I bought the new tig I think it was up for €1180 ish and it cost me £760 posted after I put a best offer on it . I did take a little offence being new here then kinda being attacked but his last post has put me at ease and I see the point of view . Thanks

I used to stay at Newquay quite often in my previous job, we used to do a lot of work at a print factory in Roche. Loved the mexican restaurant senior dicks by the victoria hotel, and the bar across the road (leadbellys, or something similar?) used to have some great live acts on. Stag/hen parties used to get right up my nose though, I'm sure it's worse for locals!

Yes senior dicks is nice , the Mexican cantina is better though down by the great western hotel . Unfortunately leadbellys has long gone , and yes stag and hen do's are a pain in the ass just seems to be getting worse to . Good luck with the research .

Whether you'll get it for half the price or not is open to question, and you'd be well advised to trawl through the replies on this thread (trying to disregard the whining) to figure out whether you're really getting a bargain or not.

tigmig is the one in question. They sell on ebay as skotl said but they also have a website.

But if you look there are others, Stamos, Stahlwerk at least, selling machines which look very similar to what R-Tech sell, but for less. In Stahlwerk's case they offer a five year guarantee. Also there was a discussion a day or two back about a Polish seller selling a machine for about half the price of SIF.
R-Tech have a a good reputation for offering a two year hassle free guarantee in an area - budget inverter welders - that many people think - and sometimes have found - is a nightmare. It all sort of depends how much you value that, how likely you think these machines are to fail, how good tigmig and Stahlwerk are at sorting them out in a reasonable time and so on.

Isn't all this just further proof of the old 'rip off Britain' adage? If you look into it we tend to pay over the odds for pretty much everything compared to most/many other countries ...tools, cars, white goods, electrical, etc., etc. ...you name it!

That's not what much of this thread has been arguing. Not wanting to reopen the debate that has already been argued, but the counter-argument to your point was that some companies give a level of service that is worth paying for.
