If anyone wants to join @Dieselkid 63 in crawler ownership it looks like a couple will be coming up for auction soon (just came up on one of the FB groups)

I was talking to a guy about it and he’s offered me two Howard rotary hoes with JAP engines. Now to work out where to hide them…
Oh and the bearing prices came back. If anyone has an RL10 and an RL11 that don’t cost the earth I’d like to buy them please!

Hendersons have nos Hoffmann available, ex-vat come in at £36, much better
Big difference in price between RL10 and RL11. The 10 is reasonable. Henderson's page gives the alternative nomenclature for them so it might be worth searching on all possibilities as some people may not list them by the RL number. For example, BearingBoys (https://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Imperial/NLJ138-Imperial-Self-Aligning-Ball-Bearing-131672-p) have an unknown brand listed as NLJ138.
They do get made, when they have a larger enough back order to make a run worth while.Yes, these older bearings are getting increasingly harder to find at a reasonable price. A lot of manufacturers simply don’t make them anymore.
It has but it cuts and drives well. There’s a much bigger range of things it’ll drive than the Allen scythe tooIt’s got tiny wheels compared to the Allen scythes.

thought you’d find this interesting, mowing my paddock with a 1950s monro tiller. It’s knocking it back without breaking a sweat !
I might well do. It’s one of a pair, the other has its rotavator attachment. Our dad got given them by someone at a vintage show he was exhibiting at, and rebuilt the villiers engines. They run sweet and start first pull. 3 speed box with a reverser set up tooThey’re just great eh? One of my more eco-centric friends turned from delight to horror recently after I told her I’d been doing a lot of gardening, then showed her my tractor ‘which now runs on leaded petrol!’
You get so much more done though. Are you going to make a dolly with a seat so you can let it drag you around?
