Went shopping yesterday and bought this winch for $20, that’s going on the back of the tractor somehow, if anything to drag itself out of things and to winch itself onto a trailer. Hand powered, can’t read the makers name but it looks very old.

locking pawl missing from left hand side otherwise looks complete have you got the handle for it had a bigger version on a trailer that was two speed approx 45 years ago

Onto the left hand final drive. The right one as you may remember was dry, so it was a pleasant surprise to see at least some oil coming out as I prized the cover off.
This wheel would not spin freely, and had to be forcefully turned which made me concerned that all may not be well. Indeed, the oil that came out was some separated goodness and in amongst the creamy coloured sludge were a good amount of metal fragments. This would appear to be bits of bearing cage and circlip. More money to spend!
The carb has had its float bowl repaired, so naturally fuel is gushing out of somewhere else. The later MG6 had an updated Amal 356 carb, and I might investigate getting something similar. For now though, getting the drive rebuilt is going to be the main priority.

There was one of these at the Karaka Vintage show at the glenbrook vintage railway a couple of months ago. I took a photo but I might have lost it on the phone.
