Which ones? I have several pairs of bolle.Bolle glasses come with an elastic strap to pull them tight against your face, if you use it they'd effectively be swimming goggles but with all the right impact protection, scratch proof, not some weird colour, etc.
I've got Bolle Trackers but there's a few on their website with it, all the ones with the foam seal against your face look like they have it. The Cobra hybrid look good, I might try those next time.Which ones? I have several pairs of bolle.
Best to be ultra careful with your eyes. When I was a teenager i got a blob of exhaust paste landing in my eye when working under the car. It bloody hurt and required a trip to Moorfields eye hospital in London. Ever since then i always use goggles, face shield, specs etc for what ever job im doingThe advantage of swimming goggles is they are small and purely cover the eyes.
I find most of the goggles I wear mist up badly when used with a facemask.
I also have full on wrap around anti mist goggles but they are so bulky. Would never wear them under a car or a welding helmet.
I have had quite a few close misses with conventional safety glasses in awkward situation.
I once had a bit of twig go into my eye - strimming the garden with no safety glasses. Didn't hurt at all at the time. But I suffered very badly for the next 3 years. I had RCE or recurrent corneal erosion syndrome. Bit like arc eye that lasts years.
So these days I am ultra careful.
Ive never seen those type before Adam, they look quite goodI've got Bolle Trackers but there's a few on their website with it, all the ones with the foam seal against your face look like they have it. The Cobra hybrid look good, I might try those next time.
I never use the strap myself, it's not particularly comfortable, but then neither are swimming goggles.
And you still want to use swimming goggles?A mate of mine had a very nasty eye injury.
He manufactures and refurbs pallets.
Uses all sorts of dodgy equipment and always wears safety glasses.
One day he was making a garden planter. He was using a claw hammer. Even I wouldn't have bothered with goggles for that. He was pulling out a nail. It broke went straight in his eye. Did a lot of damage. At one stage they thought he might lose it. Fine now luckily.
We all need to be our own nannies! I lost the sight in one eye when I was a kid so I've always been fairly good (you can never be too good) with eye protection, but sometimes you think it might be good to just sit inside a cyborg suit? One day he was making a garden planter. He was using a claw hammer. Even I wouldn't have bothered with goggles for that.
They are made of polycarbonate. And they also have to be shatter resistant - think of kids jumping in swimming pools wearing them. And you still want to use swimming goggles?
Imagine you are lying under the car, they are doing a fine job of keeping the rust out of your eyes, then you slip, drop a 17mm spanner on your face and your swimming goggles shatter...
Unlikely to happen (Though a friend has dropped a spanner on his mush and chipped a tooth, that's a different story), but probably as likely as hitting your eye with a nail using a claw hammer.
Knock yourself out, let us know how you get on.They are made of polycarbonate. And they also have to be shatter resistant - think of kids jumping in swimming pools wearing them.
There are safety standards they have to comply with.
I have ordered 2 pairs.Knock yourself out, let us know how you get on.
These have become my go to.Recently, I have been buying these https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-auger-clear-lens-safety-specs/3024p
I've got them scattered around the house, garage, sheds (i.e. grit blasting workshop) etc in the hope that I can always find one pair .
They look a bit Joe 90These have become my go to.
i dont know about the misting up all mine mist upUse proper goggles, really not worth faffing around with a make do solution.
Using swimming goggles which seal tightly to your face may cause misting inside, then you may be tempted to remove them to clean so you can see out of them.
Goggles are designed and tested to provide the required protection and not mist up
really not worth messing around with in appropriate stuff
Goggles that have been tested to demonstrate conformity to BS EN 166, don’t mist as they are all coated with anti mist coating.i dont know about the misting up all mine mist up
