Have you tried heating the stud up with a blowtorch or similar then soaking it in penetrating lube... Do this a few times the. Get some decent mole grips on it...

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of that myself. We have a new sales system at work and not all the prices are on it yet. They appear to be about £130 a pack but we seem to have a few different pack sizes snd no current price. I'll have to contact the suppliers next week, but I know they were always expensive, that's why we split the packs and sold them by the stick for about £2.00 each if I recall.

Or substitute 312 stainless rod and you will get the same results (ish). I was taught the technique years ago with Eutectic 680 rods which I understand to be a rebranded 312.

While everybody else on here is a welder, I am only a poor motor mechanic who welds (tacker)!

I have snapped every bolt imaginable in 30 years and had to learn how to extract them.

312 rods give really hard and tensile weld deposits. I have experimented with 309's but prefer 312 rods for this type of work.

Years ago we used to call 312 rods "super blues"!

Yes I queried that they are very costly and I'll admit the selling by the gram is confusing

Saw the X-tractalloy sticks on your site Jim, do find it a bit....unusual they are sold by the gram, thought it would be by the stick...though the 2.5s work out at something like 6.48 a stick inc VAT if I'm reading it right??

It's the same as the silver solder. We buy it in kilo weight and never sell it at full kilo weight so we have to divide it, there is no easy or truly accurate way of working out how many sticks are in a packet (other than literally opening packs and counting rods) so we divide our purchase price per kilo into 1000 grams, work out an average gram weight per stick and sell it for that.

They aren't cheap but they cost me a lot of money and selling by the stick takes me about ten years to sell a full pack. Added to that they are a fantastic product which works like nothing else and when they rescue you from a situation that would otherwise result in s major strip down then they are worth every penny. You just wouldn't use them on every broken stud job you come across.
Of course I can discount them very heavily if someone wishes to discuss a full or half pack etc.

I'll take it under advisement, but we have enough to think about at the moment getting hundreds of products listed and ironing out the bugs with our site.
It's being constructed by the people that do our business software and it's their first foray into e-commerce. We can't even take a payment online yet but we are promised they will have that fixed in a few weeks.
Great people to deal with but like anything new, nothing works quite as you hoped and it's our first go at running a webshop so the learning curve is vertical.
