Replacing Rusty Bits

Finished my GT wheels tonight.

The girl is ready for the drive home tomorrow.

She drives like a new car, a very big difference. And snow again in April.

Hoping to get the new wheels changed over today. Had a look what the centre caps look like with the wheels. I just worry the wheels are a bit flashy.

Work done by the mechanic:

Unleaded cylinder head conversion / hardened exhaust seats

Remove engine, gearbox and crossmember and clean

Remove and replace lightened flywheel including clutch kit and spigot bearing

Remove and replace camshaft, timing gears, cam axle plate and lifters

Remove and replace rear plug, timing gear and rear crank felt seals

Remove and replace rear exhaust rubbers

Remove and replace front crossmember and upper and lower wishbones

Remove and replace suspension springs

Remove and replace windscreen wipers and blades

Remove and replace front and rear brake hoses

Remove and replace steering idler arm bush

Remove and replace propshaft grease nipples

Replace brake fluid

Suspension geometry adjustment

Only my opinion but I do not think they suit the car. They look too big if you see what I mean.

Off for work for a week but will get the Amazon on the rotisserie when I’m back. Will be getting her media blasted and epoxy primed. The end is in sight for welding the shell.

Helped out a mate with his P1800. Epoxy primed and 2k topcoat and fitted back on the car. Rust free P1800 is pretty unique.

I can see that getting the outer wings off gives great access to the arches but a rather dramatic step to take.

NOS rear quarters and a good used rear panel were used. The inner panels have been repaired/replaced properly and now thoroughly painted for future rust protection. When finished it's a £40 to 50k car so worth doing properly.

I like these volvos. I can imagine the restoration photo record that accompanied any future sale will add significant value to the car. Amazing work, well done on all of these.
