Sprayed the internals again with rust converter, quick rub down, clean and spray can epoxy the exterior bits. That will do until they get done properly.

Houston we have a problem. Repair inner wing has been welded on about 10mm too low. Looks like my welding isn't finished and need to fix it.

You must have been tired when you welded that. Still you have not gone too far along the refit before you noticed. I am sure you will make it look like new when you reweld it.

I didn't weld the inner wing repairs, I paid a guy to do them so I could crack on with my other project. Not sure how he got it wrong, the wing bolts onto the A pilar and the front panel as well so pretty easy to check its in the correct place. Anyhow I'm going to redo both sides and remove the underseal etc to make sure no other surprises.

Yeah, I have the inner wing repairs but nothing else is available so I’ll need to make repairs. No really what I was hoping but just need to get on with it I suppose.

Yeah no point stressing about it, it just needs fixing and will then be all good. I'm actually glad I went and checked it and didn't leave it or try a bodge.

You mentioned the inner wing being the problem but from your pictures it looks like you decided to check the outer too and you dont like that as well! Still looking at your welding on the other panels these two will be done properly and so you will have peace of mind having done a proper job.

I have a couple of NOS wings to fit. The old ones are repairable but the new ones weren't expensive. I'll use the old wings as guides to make sure the new inner wings are welded in the correct location. There's a couple of datums I can use where they bolt to the A pillar and front panel.

Good result for the day, I managed to cut and lift the repair inner wing to the correct position and in the process fettled the transition from the repair section to the lower inner wing. Still got more repairs to do on the cowl section and a couple of other bits but very happy how that all went today.

Slow going wee fiddly repairs but slowly coming together. Probably looks better in the flesh than the pics. Hopefully can get a cowl panel for the other side.

Got the wee curved repair tigged in and should match up nicely with the top repair. I didn't mess about trying to make it an invisible repair considering where it is as long as it's strong and with tig I get good pen so all good.

I have a mobile phone mount made from a hard drive magnet. Also use them when welding. Should have started recovering them from dead computers earlier as all now seem to have solid state "drives".
