A bit more work on panel gaps, the NOS wing needed welding along the door edge, not ideal but much better now. Converted the battery tray to bolt in, some painting inside where welding has been done, vacuumed inside, clean and she's off to the painter tomorrow.

Engine and gearbox cleaned and a good going over with wire wheels on the drill. Will give them both a further degrease and rub down before painting on the weekend.

I previously stripped and painted the inside floor and have given the areas which have been welded a couple of coats of epoxy. Painter is painting the boot and engine bay.

Ah work on engine. Top end rebuilt and bottom end was ok. I’m doing a fuel injection conversion and might stroke it later depending if I want to keep spending money on her.

Some of the 140 cars were fuel injected so I’ve been collecting FI parts for years when they come available. Makes the conversion a bit easier. I have everything I need and all the modern parts too so when she is off the road over winter is the plan.

Well I didn't know that! Presumably a fairly crude mechanical system, but an improvement still?

Electronic with a ECU. Bosch Djet, pretty impressive for early 70s. Kjet came after and was the mechanical one.

Painted the engine and gearbox today, couple coats of epoxy mastic and then a couple of coats of 2k topcoat.

Rated for 120c constant temp and 140c max. So will be fine.

I gave the engine bits a rub down and clean and decided to go with a 2k clear over. They are darker in the pics than in person.

Painted the 142 gearbox mount and a couple of the gearbox brackets tonight.
