well the garden is tiny and even more bizare the front is fully block paved
and so is the rear
l dont like gardening
have to photoshop out that brick mate
l have a problem with moles pushing the blocks up

on the other hand my buggy is getting all my attention and is progressing well
l have got 6 months before the grass wants cutting again so plenty of time to finish the mower yet

well that 6 months before the grass wanted cutting came and went like a flash
l had my old ransomes to fall back on at the start of the cutting season but it ate its own water pump as they are prone to do, nearly £200 for a kabuto diesel water pump ha ha more chance of knitting fog than me paying that,
vw golf electric water pump £20 of ebay and it works a treat
anyway the reason for the post was that l picked up where l left off recently,
l dident like all the box section steel l was putting into it on one hand, and
had doubts that the gearing would be low enough to run slowly while mowing
so l had a rehash, peugeot 306 turbo diesel engine and box turned sideways
so l could make use of the 4 to 1 diff instead of the 2 to 1 transfer l had before, vitara back axle used as a front as they are nice and wide
and a chopped down sj front axle used as a steering rear axle,
306 diesel engine and box in a very useful shopping trolley
cant get the back axle any narrower or l wouldent get the chassis past when the wheels are turned

yes its for cutting the grass or anything else that gets in the way, going to fit a flail cutting deck on the front a bit like this

hi
it was very easy to shorten the axle, l just cut the long side down till it was the same as the short side so as l could use 2 short shafts instead of having to make or shorten a long shaft
l think what l did was to pull both shafts out and measure them and then cut the axle casing down by the amount they differed, about 400mm
its not critical as you can have more or less resting in the diff end, a few mm anyway,
l found a double ended ram on ebay that l mounted on the back of the diff and then bought 2 new track rod ends and hunted down a couple of rose joints with the same thread and screwed them on
l was going to use an auto box with this but lazyitus got the better of me and l couldent summon up the energy to pull the engine and box out of this
l wasent looking forward to making a gearchange mech but it turns out its really easy as both rods move in the same direction, a couple of bowden cables of ebay and some more 6mm rose joints and its done
big radiator, might be too big as its pushing the seats up to high

I do understand that one, when the red mist descends things get done with no planning or conscious thought.
Great moments when that is happening or more like just afterwards.
