I can feel the solenoid click. Does that mean anything?
I've just looked in my eBay history.
I swapped the pump on our own boiler in August of last year. Grant vortex with rdb1 burner.
The current pump is all B10 or whatever whilst the old (original) one wasn't, but is otherwise identical.
I could scrape bits off the seals of the old one with my finger nail, so it wasn't surprising that it failed.
My neighbours (different brand) failed last year also. We tested with one of my boneyard units to conclude it was his pump (can't remember the issue) and then he sourced a replacement off eBay. That was some odd intermittent fault, but was, essentially, the pump.
Basically if it's getting oil, everything else seems to be working, it's going to be the pump or, I guess, the control unit. Control unit is likely going to end up in a whole burner swap so...
Thanks. Do you happen to have a link to the seller in case they have more?Ps new pump was £59 delivered. Could probably have found one cheaper but was in a hurry and wanted to be sure it wasn't old stock (ie was the b10 or whatever variant)
His videos are very useful.
Installed around 2001 according to the label. Potentially never serviced if I know the previous owners. Having said that, I keep meaning to get round to it and this is our fifth year here. How old is the boiler/burner btw? My Warmflow Bluebird dates from 1998.

So, good news and bad.
The solenoid wasn't at fault so thats ruled out. BUT.... by swapping them over i have created a leak on the other boiler!! I must have disturbed the tube the solenoid sits over... furthermore, by trying to bodge repair that by gently turning it with a small pair of grips i think i have damaged the brass tube.
I will get onto this in the summer!I would. Mine was in a shocking state. Had to make a new baffle, new lid, replace the top insulation, the gasket between burner and firebox etc.

Thanks for the help. I have the parts ready to pick up tomorrow. Paid a little more than I would like if I had more time but not too much.Yeah, thats the actual reed valve bit - the thing that i mentioned id never successfully replaced. But i believe they are replaceable.
Ive just checked the seller, and they are "no longer registered user" (?) but the auction title / part number was -
This may well not be exactly what you want though, but it will give you something to go on.
If the valve is leaking, but otherwise undamaged, it may just be a new o-ring. Ive done absolutely zero research as to if this is the part, but it could well be -

I will see if i can spot the old pump of mine about here also for additional research. You would be welcome to the valve off that, but, for the sake of £21 delivered (ebay) it would hardly be worth using my "unknown" - but, with luck, its just the oring thats a problem.
Be aware, however, i have a hazy memory of having a failure from this point, and a considerable amount of fuel ending up on the floor (as in it was running through into the next room)
