id always keep one pair "in stock" too but id of never have thought that a quantity of them had a shelf life, they shouldnt have.

Jallates are a boot for all occasions, work, ride bike, homers, dig garden, walk dog, go to pub......just not warm in winter, or water proof

Agreed, failing foundry boots (difficult to get now) I used leather boot laces, they too get damaged by hot slag lodging in the tongue area but they do last longer than conventional laces.

You can get kevlar laces these days, might be worth trying.

Actually, you can get kevlar knitted socks too, which might not be a bad try for those who insist on collecting half their welding wire in their boots.

I bought the cushion sole Dr Martin`s and they are like wearing slippers, they dont rub socks out and I find my legs are not dropping off by mid day. I bought the same ones back in October 2015, the toes in them are worn to the point the steel toe cap is almost falling out, however, I wear them for 10hrs a shift as well, and they are still as comfy as the day I got them. I had a pair of Dr. Martens before but they had the traditional Yellow Dr. Marten sole, my soles felt like they are burning within a couple of hours. So I was hesitant getting these ones, but turned out to be well worth the money.
