I don’t think that will matter on an adjustment nut for a track rod. I wouldn’t make the rod itself out of stainless for the very good point you make there. At the end of the day if it clouts the Kirb hard enough the rod is gonna bend but the nut should be ok.
@Jlg what grade stainless are you gonna use.

It’s only a tracking adjustment nut. I can’t see it needing to be anything particularly special. If you want to use 303 use 303

Put some copper slip on the steel threads on the rod and those nuts should have better corrosion resistance than steel ones.

303 is what the 4x4 off road teams use for there linkages

stainless threads gool up , asking for trouble mixed with steel. EN19 (4240) overkill but good EN3 idealas its fairly strong and machines nicely

Stainless will sell better though and it’s nothing a bit of copper slip won’t sort out

Maybe I was in the off road manufacturing business for some time and know the game and also know that when you find out copper slip is not magical and people possibly have problems what are you going to do.
Secondly unless you payout for good quality taps stainless can be a pest, think about production
Also have it strictly in place that they are off-road use only otherwise you could suffer extreme misery if something goes wrong even if completely Unrelated .
Not telling you off or trying to put you off just be careful with suspension and steering component s
