ive just had some advice from a family friend who does this legal stuff and he’s advised against doing it as it can still come back to me so thanks everyone for the advice but it’s not worth the risk for me as you never know what’s going to happenYour manufacturing parts to spec given to you. I have to go with the experts advice as if anything goes wrong I can get the blame which is opening a can of worms if I had insurance there wouldn't be as much of a problem as I wouldn't end up out of pocketReally don’t see any issues in them personally. It’s a big nut that will be locked up with 2 smaller nuts. It ain’t bending before the original track rod does. Not a chance. If the threads are cut properly they ain’t stripping and they ain’t under no pressure anyway because the lock nuts will keep it all nicely nipped up. Stainless on steel or steel on steel if the threads are not put together with a lubricant like copper grease they will corrode but the difference is the nut itself won’t so you’ll stand less chance of rounding them in a years time when you come to put a spanner on them. Stainless nuts will cause no harm in that application if made and put together properly.

not to cut but gallingNever had an issue threading (tapping or single pointing) stainless, whether fine or course or UNC/UNF etc. I have only ever used 316 however as all my work is marine related so I can't say how 303 would be.
