Yes it clears fine. It’s a little tight initially but not anything to worry about. That’s why I made a fixed release handle because it’s a pain to keep looking under the tool to see if it fits.

Brilliant. Thanks for that, I think I’ll have to cancel my order so that’ll work. Very annoyed about the whole thing considering I ordered it two weeks ago or more. Could’ve finished it if they sent the steel :/

So today I did some more. Cut the silver steel up and fitted it into the bearings then I cut down some more 130mm plate and drilled four holes for the motor to go in as you can see.
Offered the motor up and tacked in place, I removed it and then fully welded it all.
@Pete. very kindly helped me out again with the wiring. He did a nice box of all the bits and bobs and the motor works great on single phase. I’m very happy. Tomorrow I need to cut the keyway somehow, really not sure how currently.
I also have been making it into a little video. Thought it would be fun so once finished I’ll post that if anyone cares to see.

Haha I am not at all. I can only just lift it off the table as it is. I’ll have to strip it to move it I think or use a cart. It’s so heavy.@KimB I hope your feeling strong or your building another work bench

For a keyway at the end of the shaft, it is doable on the lathe, even without a vertical slide. Use an empty quick change toolholder block and G-clamp the silver steel into it over the top of the toolpost. Set the centre of the bar at lathe centre height (easy if you have an offcut of bar - hold that in the chuck and wind up toolholder height adjustment until the top of each part is the same, check with indicator). Hold milling cutter in a collet or in the lathe chuck. If holding in the lathe chuck, it is better to use a split collet of soft steel between hard jaws and hard cutter shank.

Ideal for a big woodruff key. You could actually do alot worse than use a thin slitting disc. If you bodged some kind of depth stop/ guide.Angle grinder?
You could do it with a neatly ground up cold chisel. Cut sides with a hacksaw to get your line. Then tap away, us old folk were taught such things as apprentices.

Another trick if you have a QCTP is to mount a parting tool on its side and adjust it so the centre line of the cutting edge is at the lathes centre height, lock the spindle somehow and use the lathes carriage as a planer taking shallow cuts. Adjust tool height up/down to achieve desired width of keyway. Doable without a QCTP but a bit more faffy...

shouldn’t be an issue if I take light cuts.
