Probably not a lot, the main issue is the starting power. When it’s starting under load it take a fair bit of power to get it going.

With your set-up, the 3P motor with caps on a 1P supply, aka a Steinmetz connection, then you've I believe a low starting torque anyway. The system can only supply around 60% of the motors power compared to if it were on 3P.

Pete wired it for me. The capacitors double in size for the first second roughly to allow it enough to fire up under load.

What are your cap values, guessing the start is maybe x4 the run value?

Can’t remember but they run in parallel initially, then switch to running in series was how I think Pete did it.

So that's 100uF on start if paralleled dropping to 25uF in series when running?

My x4 guess was right then it sounds.
