If I’m honest there are things I’d do differently. I’ll talk about then in the video once I’ve finished it and tested it a bit. That's spot on, really nice execution

This was actually my main thought but I didn’t want to admit to it shouldn’t be an issue if I take light cuts.
It works, I've done it loads of times.
I also have been making it into a little video. Thought it would be fun so once finished I’ll post that if anyone cares to see.

I saw some one do similar with a burr in a dremel mounted on the tool post. What ever works on the day.It works, I've done it loads of times. I put the spindle lock on and block a jaw up off the bed with a piece of wood to stop it moving then grind a tool and line it up by bringing it up to the end of the bar and measuring down from the top of the bar half a diameter less half the width of the tool. Use small cuts and a bit of lube.
Well, I think this is one of the few projects that I have actually finished properly. Nearly anyway. Small bit left to do.It's called Research and Development. Don't paint anything so it stays in a perpetual state of R&D.
I should’ve to be honest but I couldn’t see me getting that all lined up straight, thinking back right now I think I could’ve but it’s a bit late not. What I will probably do is clean the keyway up when I get a mill or something at some point.Drill a hole at the 'blind' end of the keyway, and using your (unpowered) lathe as a shaper, plane up to the hole with a sideways parting tool. Done it loads of times and it works.
Aww thanks Brad. What a lovely gesture. It seems done. But it certainly would’ve been easier with one thank you.If you have any issues and it’s metric you’re welcome to come use the mill, you know what you’re doing.
Yes it worked and I have a blister on my hand. Silver steel is pretty sturdy. I think I was winding it back and forth for an hour or more. It was slow going that’ll teach me for not having the tools for the job.You cutting a key way wiping a tool up and down on a manual lathe? Fair play.
If so, I'd like to know.
What depth are your strokes.
Does it really work?
I have one similar...I realise I am getting weaker by the day.I keep thinking of adding one of these to the drawbar of a little Erde 142. My very own mini Hiab.
My excuse is age.
That's just critical thinking, we all do that.If I’m honest there are things I’d do differently.
