Rotary powered welding table build.

XR Fasters were my first choice to go for all my bolts when l lived in Essex,, a true old school Aladins Cave.
I as hoping my son, who still lives in Grays, Essex would call in to XR's for me, but there you go. I'll order some when I'm ready.

It's about time I continued with this rotary table build, having returned to work awhile ago now. I've been getting my financials straight(er) after being off work for 5 months after my operation.

The next stage is to weld up a box for the control system to be built into, so we have some 1mm sheet cut to be welded.

Just read this whole thread and the quality of machine work is just A1...great build.....on a personal note what was your hospital procedure as you looked perfectly fit when you called at my house in 2017

Prolapse L4/L5 disc which was restricting the spinal cord in the spinal channel. I'd had problems for years just learned to work around it, until...

I saw the head nero surgeon on the 30th Nov, the operation was paid for by the NHS in a private hospital on the 13th Dec.

I was very close to losing the ability to walk and becoming permently incontinent.

The surgeon gave me the direct phone number for the nero surgery department/ward on the 13th and told me "If you have any problems at any time, phone the number and come straight in there will be a surgical team waiting for you".

So l had 5 months off sick, also lost my job while being off and had to find new employment as well.

Hence the rotary table started in Febuary, to stop me from climbing the walls, but most important to get me slowly moving again, an hour here and there depending on my back...

Wow..great your making a recovery as that sounded pretty bad stuff you had going on..well done in getting back on your feet mate

To continue:

I have welded up the control box casing including a lid not shown as yet, just needs to be tidied up and painted.

I have also finished welding up the main supporting frame.

I cut a heat sink/base plate out of 12mm alloy to mount the 240volt to 24dc volt converter and the speed controller for the motor.

The main frame and the main rotary cross beam have been painted.

Plus the converter and speed control unit have been mounted to the heat sink, now I have to paint the control box.

Painted the controls box and started putting the bits in, just couple of switches to position, and sockets for the foot pedal and main input lead.

This project is almost in danger of being finished at this rate....

Pretty good really, there are times when I may have pushed it a bit, but I'm always careful and always try to think of safe way to move heavy object. I dont intend to damage my back any more, thirty plus years of back pain teaches you to be very careful.

Yes, I called into XR Fastners on a Saturday morning when I was down in Essex 3 weeks ago. I had a word with "The Man", he then disappeared of into the darkest depths of "Aladdins Cave" and return with a small box of "Rocking Horse Poo". We exchanged beer tokens and I went on my merry way, another very satisfied customer....XR Fasteners........Rock.....
