The Vanden Plas Princess version had a Rolls Royce engine. That's not one though, they had a different grille.

There was a 3 litre VP Princess with BMC's C Series engine and the VP Princess 'R' with Rolls Royce's 3.9 litre 6 cylinder version of their aluminium FB60 engine. My old photographic tutor Ken Padley had an 'R', could cruise at over a 100 mph but punishing on fuel. I think he said it was just under £2,000 new, a couple of quid cheaper than a Mark 10 Jag. This would have been mid sixties? More expensive than our two bed cottage in Kent.

GPO had some as cabling lorries in the mid 70’s way after production ceased. From what I recall they were left over from an overseas contract & had a humongous petrol engine in. This was to get them under the HGV weight limit I was told. I drove one on odd occasions, it went like a rocket, pass anything bar a petrol station. In those days GPO ended up with a variety of odd ball kit, left overs, remember the Ford A series truck, there was a petrol one of those as well.

Our neighbor once had a 3 legged dog, one day it injured a foot and it hopped along on 2 legs for a while.

Walk round Crinan Harbour today, another winch on the shoreline:

There is an old chimney:

It dates from 1840, a pyroligneous acid factory, possibly the best preserved in Scotland, also did a walk on the Crinan Canal, and saw some old signs:

Used to push and pull the last of the UK beached launched fishing boats.

I was there a few years ago watching them go out.
At that end of the town are some nice second hand shops and such like.
