I used to play in a van version of this type of vehicle as a kid and near me there is a camper version that i have never seen on the road, I would love to have it as a vintage camper restoration.

Knock on the door and ask if they've ever considered getting rid? They might even say "take it away out of our sight". Shy bairns get nae sweeties, as they say up here. They might say "we would sell it", offer them the aforementioned 'sweeties' then.....

Wait till just the wife is home. You might get it for free then!
Just like me and the electric motor I got the other week ‘take it please, my husband keeps bringing home old rubbish’!
I did that with my Surf, I knocked on the door and a little Indian lady answered the door. I gave her my number and said if you want to sell it give me a call, her husband phoned later that day and I went back and bought it. That was nearly 8 years ago!
I reckon that poor b@stard thinks someone's stolen his gear and his missus is keeping her mouth shut!
It has been sat in the same place for at least 25 years and i have asked quite a few times and even left numbers but i suspect it has been a family camper and the owner is holding on to it for sentimental reasons, I can understand that as i know a family that has a Vw split screen camper in the garden which is now being used as a summer house.Knock on the door and ask if they've ever considered getting rid? May be originally of a ship, there are the rusted remains of a hull nearby.
Walk round Crinan Ferry today, nice old winch seen better days. Marked Caird & Co Greenock.
Small scale.
Still a relic.
Still Rusted.
Still may live again.
