Rusted relics

On a site today, I was to late to photo the Victorian Boiler house being knocked down, sadly no images.

But I did get into the Victorian green house, or Hot house as it would of been. As it was attached to the boiler house.



Cast metal floor grates, now smashed and in the skip.



A few of the hand crank bars to open the roof and side windows. Body is cast iron and the threads were brass.

The roof was all cranked bars, as were all marked, as were all the supporting brackets.

Sadly all gone, as, I quote:

"was worth nothing and would of cost to much to repair"

This was left ,where it resides today, 10 years ago when I first started looking after the site.



It is Triumph No2 Grass Cutter.




I suspect it would make a nice restoration project.
The wood is well past saving. But the machine is complete.



But the owner will not part with it.

I know, I have asked, as many others.

Oh one of them, gets his jolly's turning people away. Seen the same thing happening with cars, boats and motorcycles, left in a prominent place rotting away, turning way people looking to buy it

Here's some rusty things from Beacon Hill fort in Harwich.



If the date on them is correct, that's six year old me hiding in the second picture . I've been back there a few years ago but can't find the pictures now. It was never really open to the public, you had to fight through brambles and nettles and shimmy through a gap in a fence but it was recently(ish) bought and is being cleared up and made into a museum type thing. You can see it from Landguard fort in Felixstowe, it's only about a mile across the estuary but an hours drive to get there.
