And I thought I was just odd like that, love wandering around old industrial sites and trying to picture what they were like when actually being used. But also very poignant thinking about all the peeps that used to work there and what we used to make.

When the ferries were on trike they used the Freighters between the islands. Amazing really, must have cost a fortune. I had the chance to go inside one, can't remember where it was, Wigram maybe or Motat. There's one at ferrymead with a car coming out of it, think it's a Morris Traveller.

This is on the Ilha de Armona in the Rio Formosa, Portugal. No vehicles on the island, just one quad bike. Maybe this was its forerunner?

That's an interesting one that one, started out as a steam loco, converted to diesel.

Not been up there for years, shall have to make a point of going up next year. It's only 10 miles from here and I forget how nice it is on the trail and round Cromford canal.

Finding these photos really interesting some of the items are well on there way to returning to the ground and some of the heavy stuff looks like it will be here in a thousand years still.just shows they don't make it like they used to.keep the photos coming

Here are some lovely little things from New Mills, Derbyshire

There's a weighbridge here but it's very overgrown now. Ten years ago you used to be able to go inside, the plate is still on the ground though. Some sort of fuel dump. I never did find out what this little wheel is meant to do. It can't have generated much electricity, it's too far in land from the river, and too far from a mill to be a power source. The whole place had me bewildered. It's behind the sweet factory if you walk down the road by the park, if you know the area.

Back in NZ, this place is always fun to visit - Fort Ballance on the Miramar peninsular. Iron fittings throughout and concrete construction. There's even a little railway inside it for ferrying shells to the guns. Heavily graffitied now. 35mm again.

We stumble across a few rusty things when clearing woodlands. Normally end up tangled in the machine, forest or woodland in this country means a free tip for the great unwashed .

How come the friendly local metal collectors haven't hoovered up all that lovely scrap and how sad am I,I can tell that's a mk3 escort that had a tap up the rear end .

Here's a few from the old cabinet war rooms in Neasden north London, under a crappy housing estate now .
It was never actually used but Churchill visited once and apparently hated it!



I think there's still something going on at a lower level going by this ammeter....
