Found today, on a visit to a new site, 2 old oil furnaces.
Last used in the late 80's




The tanks are still in place, something is in them. I didn't investigate that far.


Over the years the sire grew up round the 2 monsters. To a state now to remove them they have to be striped down completely. So they remain.

bear in mind thats 3" thick min steel there

Ive got a picture some of a churchill barrel with a sabot round that traveled 3ft down the side of it before going through 5" of steel of the mantel (gun hinge plate)

The fact it's still there to take photos of is a sign of it's original quality.

nice to see the chassis paint has done its job ,chassis goes so u dont have to replace the exhaust after 3 years.

Not been up there for years, shall have to make a point of going up next year. It's only 10 miles from here and I forget how nice it is on the trail and round Cromford canal.

I have worked on the Cromford Canal, lead a couple of Xmas camps, about 10 years ago!
