I know the japanese style is something we've shared in common for a long time! This is the gate for my Jiu Jitsu acadamy. The bottom symbol is the Roger Gracie logo, he's our master and one of the most decorated grapplers on the planet. Great guy! This gate is for my professor. It's a gift in exchange for lessons.Sean
That looks amazing, is it for some Yakuza hooligan's base?
I have been looking at this style of Japanese art for years and wanting an excuse to have a go at something.
Ideas have started stirring again.
Thanks, I'm gonna miss having the lazy badtard lying around the place getting in the wayLooking great and they're a fair size now, must be nice not tripping over Sam or having him grimace at you when you walk in the workshop!

Why you not answering your messsges?!
Sorry my mistake! My brains been a fuzzy mess this week!Text? Not had any.
M12 possibly. I'll stop in at Montrose when I get a chance to have a lookWhat size are the nuts, would a half nut work?
Thank you for your reply baconbarm. I suppose you're right, the weight of the gate is pulling away from the wall. Thank youHi, making the nuts and bit thinner should be fine if it gets you enough space as it's the inside nut which takes the strain.
Alternatively, you could replace the box section posts with new posts that are 10mm diameter smaller, giving you 20mm to play with
could you take away outside nut altogether, tighten other nut up and tack them to threaded bar?
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that I've fitted drop bolts today and will fit locators on the concrete so the fates can be fasted while open.Darn they look good, a credit to you thats for sure, are you going to fit stops so when fully opened they cannot hit the stone/concrete pier caps? or do they stop before getting that far. Bet the guy is really pleased with them.
