I suppose you don't have the backing of a credit card but then again I had an issue one time, lost £500 on a welder from LTS and the credit card people were useless and didn't want to know so...

well it will be interesting to know others views on this or is it just age and experiance makes me use card unless its face to face collection , bank transfer I would gamble 70/80 sovs but no more ..too much of a loss I could ill afford.

They probably only accept bank transfer because their margin is already low. Both credit card payments and PayPal are utterly expensive for merchants. PayPal being the worst.

that could be it , but surely the option to pay by card and additional 4% or so would be a good business ,bank transfer is a huge no no to most.

I pay most invoices by bank transfer but I suppose that is a different thing as I already have the goods and I am just paying for them.

I tried registering on that Spidweld site it and wouldn't even let me set a UK post code or a country in the profile.

The original weldes.de site is down too.

My friend has his Polish workmate on the hunt and so far 2 of the Polish suppliers have said they can't or won't sell to the UK.
Maybe Jasic has had a word.

It's a shame if it's the reason as this is the only way I would get a reasonable machine at an affordable price. There's no way I would pay the price of the Jasic so it looks like my foray into Tig welding may have come to an end before it started.

You can get other Tigs for similar prices but then they are not Jasic minis so likely they will not be as nice but still capable of doing decent welding I would imagine.

We should have kept our heads down and just filled our boots I think...reckon Sherman may only have a distribution agreement which covers Poland....so words have probably been had.

Mine is still sitting in the box waiting for me to get time off work to give it a go....very annoying!

I did send an email to that address at lunchtime but have not had a reply as of yet.

I will likely know more tomorrow as my friend work mate is Polish and has been emailing and phoning places all over Poland.
I think one of them is the place mentioned above but not sure if that is one of the ones that has said no to UK or not.

Strange as it may seem, another reason I wanted the Sherman was because my 97 year old dad used to drive them in the war.

Depends who your buying off to be fair as every bargain to be had off here when I sold them on here I always ask transfer and no user has ever had an issue. When you read the small print PayPal is just as risky but for the seller and not the buyer as I have lost thousands over the years with paypal with no help at all.

I use it as a buyer..lets face it if your buying from an unknown source its usefull, if your buying from a known member on the forum bank transfer should be fine obviously

My friend says his friend seems to have things sorted with one of the sellers via his Polish workmate, not sure which seller though and maybe I shouldn't say even if I find out just in case Jasic has put the bite on them.
Will update with more info when I know.
