Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

What size of Rectus 21 bulkhead fitting is needed for the front gas connector? Seen 6/4 mentioned but also 8/6. Not going to use the M10 to 1/4 BSP adapter in the end as it's a bit bulky.

Both work, neither is perfect. 6/4 fits the front panel better, 8/6 fits the hose better.

Then even I can find it back if I ever buy one, because I am sure I would want a pedal.

I only ever worked wit a pedal and liked it a lot, at home I currently have neither, do you have experience with both?
At work I only have the nice slim and flexible torch without buttons, my Binzel at home is big, inflexible and the button is always taking up a little bit of attention to depress.

Not a great deal of experience with either TBH, Saw pot on torch on a Chinese machine and seems like it might be a good idea with 4T. Saves kicking a pedal around the shop?

Torch pots are ok as long as you can use in 4T mode, if trying to use in 2T then it is difficult as you have to hold the button and at the same time adjust the wheel, not easy

I much prefer the two button method of adjusting current but sadly the Sherman doesn't seem to support that.

I can't recall if the sherman allows you into 4T with the torch pot or not but I think it does, there will be info posted in this thread by myself on that subject but it's a long thread so...

Hi all!

Today I got my Sherman. Did not test TIG welding yet as I still have to get Argon, but tested in MMA mode with 3.2mm electrodes and it works great! I noticed though that front panel has alarm LED lit all the time and when I power it down it does a single beep and shows 'E-2' on indicator. Should I be worried?

If you are talking about this "alarm" LED then that is just that you have the wrong size electrode chosen for the current range you are using. It doesn't make any difference as it is just purely a visual warning.
Regarding the E-2, that is probably just because it senses the the low voltage when you switch off and whilst the capacitors discharge. I will have to look the next time when I am at the workshop.

Yes, that LED! I dont know, I did set the 3.2 mm electrode thickness and tried current in range of 80..100 A, which should be okay. I guess I have to play with it a little bit more.
Thanks for 'E-2' explanation, it kind of makes sense, but it could be still nice if you would look if your unit does the same.

80 Amps I would say is on the low end of the scale for 3.2 electrodes but 100Amps should have been fine. It all depends on what Sherman or rather Jasic have decided the range should be but as it is just an indicator it is nothing to be concerned about as it doesn't actually affect the performance.

Just had a look in the Jasic manual and they are saying 100-140Amps for 3.2 which would definitely explain the indicator showing orange at 80 Amps.

As I said, it is just an indicator. It has no effect on the welding performance so it is not something to worry about.

Regarding the E-2, I have just looked at the Jasic manual and it is an under voltage error so more than likely it is just because you power off but the capacitors are discharging and thus it shows. I will try and remember to look on Monday at mine but maybe someone else will chime in before to confirm that they too see it or indeed that they don't

It is a nice waveform option to have. The Hitachi has it, as does the CEA and the EWM iirc

For AC I would say it is on par or very fractionally better than the Parweld, Stealth and TecArc I have had before.
On DC it quite a bit better.

im getting really peeved with the weco on ac despite what set up i use its all over the place, richard noticed this aswel unlike his lorch on the other hand was incredibly easy
