Took mine apart for a clean this morning and took some snaps for you.

Hi All,

I just placed my order for one of these units from weldes and I'm looking forward to receiving it. This is my first post here, so a bit of an introduction. I've never welded before but I enjoying wrenching on all sorts of stuff as a hobbyist; I've been wanting to learn for quite a few years now. Watched a few videos on youtube from AvE who recommended that a hobbyist skips mig and goes for stick. Called some places around town to maybe take a course and they recommended I skip their industry focused course, buy a TIG machine to learn stick and then later I can grow into the TIG functionality; their recommendation was a Jasic unit. Talked to some more folks and thought, well maybe I'll want to do aluminium welding one day, so why not go AC/DC and that's how I ended up here with this machine. A bit of circuitous route but I think I've found the right machine to start the journey along this road.

I just wanted to post to say I did my first ever tig weld today. I know it's not very good but I did want to share to encourage others.

I've been wanting to teach myself tig for years, just got the Sherman and I was actually putting off trying it because if my first attempt has been totally shocking it would have been really demoralising.

Have a go. Yes I know there is a world of difference between what I managed and a proper weld, but I can see that I will definitely be able to learn this.

Only bummer is my flow meter is leaking like a sieve so my day off tig welding turned into just trying out of once to see if it worked OK.

I've been watching YouTube for months, and I would say it definitely set me off in the right direction, and I can also immediately see some of the things I need to get better at, thanks to the stuff I've been watching.

Matt, that looks like a very good start, I would be very happy with that.

Good first effort.
More amps I think, sides need to wet in. Give it a second more or before you start dipping. You should see the weld pool go shiney and flat like a mirror and then you can start dipping and moving. Dont hang about though as very shortly after it all drops out the bottom.

More or less any conventional type foot pedal will work.

It is mentioned within this (long) thread a couple of times. 10k pot for the pedal. Try a search. I am still waiting for my connectors to arrive from China via Amazon. They got sent back once and had to send them again.

Having had an SSC pedal (with the R-Tech I previously had) and now having the pedal that came from @www_weldes_de for the Sherman I am astounded at just how good the latter is compared to the former.

If you're a professional welder atvit all day then I could understand but I'd otherwise suggest you'd have to ask yourself whether a pedal that costs five or six times as much is justifiable..?

Personally I find the pot on the side of the pedal that comes with the Sherman unnecessary and annoying. It's easily knocked by my feet and drops the amperage down to the minimum so I cant get a weld pool going.

Can you not just take the side pot off? Or at least bypass the wiring.

It has crossed my mind. I might put some tape on it to keep it maxed out. The problem should go away when those connectors finally turn up.

with my limited eletronics expertise i thing it should work if proper wired. the pedal has 5 pins 2 for a switch a 3 for a 10k potenciometer. try to find the jasic pedal wiring . I´m lazy today.

My connectors from amazon still in China. Most of the month in Wenzhou, yesterday Shanghai and today Zhengzhou. Its going the wrong way if its supposed to be on a slow boat?!

Can I ask about AC wave forms? I seen welders with square, triangular, soft square wave patterns besides the sino wave. Does it matters? On 206 I only have one kind of wave. It's like pulse I think almost every new welder has it but it is rarely use on workshop condition. Prove me if I am wrong.
