Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

how is everyone finding the sherman, on fillet welds and outside corners how stable is the arc?

On AC it absolutely trumps (no political pun intended) the R-Tech TIG 210EXT I had previously in terms of arc imitation and stability.

On DC it's also better than the above... but not not in the same league as my Lorch MicorTIG, which is DC only.

i know that the chaps i bought it of went over to an rtech ive only recently clocked why. at some point i will open my weco up and check the obvious stuff, if that doesnt solve it i might buy the sherman and sell the weco

The jasic ac arc is perfectly decent, I had a half hour bash with a loaner machine at work a while back. It's no lorch, but it's perfectly stable

Yup, one can only assume that the Jasic and Sherman might display similar characteristics.

One of the reasons I bought the Lorch MicorTIG several months ago when the 'blue machine' went wrong AGAIN was the strength of your comments on Lorch over the years and I agree with the above!

So if I put a ohm meter between 1 and 2 should i see 10k ohms I’m only seeing 5k?

Torch pots are ok as long as you can use in 4T mode, if trying to use in 2T then it is difficult as you have to hold the button and at the same time adjust the wheel, not easy

I much prefer the two button method of adjusting current but sadly the Sherman doesn't seem to support that.

I can't recall if the sherman allows you into 4T with the torch pot or not but I think it does, there will be info posted in this thread by myself on that subject but it's a long thread so...

4T option is available when pedal is connected but doesn’t seem to work it switches on but amps where stuck at 30 amps but works fine in 2T mode.

Thanks for 'E-2' explanation, it kind of makes sense, but it could be still nice if you would look if your unit does the same.

Yes get the E-2 error for a fraction of a second when I power off so it will be just as I speculated I think.

I also get the E-2 error for a fraction of a second during shutdown. I imagine it's normal due to power being cut and therefore voltage being too low. I wouldn't worry about it.

Marcis, I have been using 2.5 mm electrodes and I get the same warning light when my amperage is not within the 80-100 range.

At last, more time to practice with the Sherman...and plenty more time required. This is 1mm aluminium @40A, no pedal. Most difficult bit I'm finding is the tacking which is where most of the holes originated.

Yeah i am looking at this welder for some time. Im interested if someone has some experience with it? Has almost the same specs as the sherman 206p but with different wave forms and memory settings and a different torch

The 206 is basically the Jasic...unless this one can be identified (as a descent brand clone) then it's just another welder to me and therefore more risky.

Bells and whistles...only good if it can play a tune in my opinion....somebody has to be first to buy and try. Maybe they could provide a free sample for someone to evaluate...might be a cracking machine...might be poop...

Ha ha! I did exactly the same thing. Couldn't get that tiny circlip/springclip out for the life of me to swap the innards over.
The correct ones are sold on Amazon as a pack of five.
Still waiting for mine to arrive, tracking shows the flight from China was yesterday so maybe soon.

I got the clip out swapped over the insides but it’s not correct. Won’t fit into Sherman. Thanks for the link.

I'm a new owner of a Shreman 206p. Liking it a lot thus far - only previous experience of TIG and aluminium was a local class about 8 years ago andgot very little TIG time.
Thus far I have used without the foot pedal but began to feel I was getting too many amps towards the end of a run so tried the pedal. Can someone knowledgeable tell me what the pot on the side of the Sherman pedal controls? In my naivety I thought that once the max amps were set on the Sherman the pedal gave full whack when fully depressed and amps decreased as one backed of the pedal. The pot confuses me as can't see what it does!

Also, in passing, the pedal seems to be pretty on/off - how have others found it?
