Out the box and it powers up too...so now at the very least I have a door stop in my favourite blue....with lights .

Can't test until I get some gas sorted out...although I might give the MMA mode a go.

I meant to respond to this thread earlier; as Chris's notes were fairly instrumental in my deciding to purchase one. It seemed too much of a bargain to pass over, and I've been wanting to try TIG for a while now.

I've had it for a couple of weeks now (and only used it in anger a couple of times) and am new to TIG. I'd done some MIG welding, but really found that a little tricky. I'm certainly finding it easier to get started with TIG, though only laying test beads so far - but then this isn't a thread about learning to TIG. In fact, I was going to photo some of my attempts thus far and seek some advice, but haven't had quite the time I'd hoped with working from home and childcare, etc.



Like Chris, found the pedal was a botch 2-leads into one plug (no strain relief, excepting some heatshrink - as shown) affair so rewired this with some 5 core and a new plug, and made up a little adapter hose for the M10 gas fitting to allow a quick-release (21, I think?) fitting. (piccy also shows a DINSE - 3/8 gas and power combined too).
For the supply, I did cut the end off and put a 16A plug on.


If anyone is doing the same and wants links for plugs, fittings, etc, let me know and I'll pass you across the details of the things/suppliers I used.

My experiences so far; the JASIC manual is a little more helpful than the Sherman one, and I'd recommend getting them both.

As above, I'm afraid I'm not a TIG welder (I'm totalling about 40 mins so far on this!), so I don't know how useful my experiences would be to relate. Seems a little tricky, but much more intuitive than MIG (wire speed was very tricky for me - my MIG welder is a Clarke 90EN). It's also TINY and VERY LIGHT - here it is, being dwarfed by my trolley/bottle:

The Jasic remote control socket/plug IMO is the worst bit about the design by far. The rest of the machine is built really quite well, but the remote plug is cheap, flimsy and nasty.
It's not a problem per se, it's just not a quality part, and stands out in comparison to the rest of the machine IMO.
For a company as ambitious and aggressively marketing as they are, they should have sorted this out already, and I bet they'll change it at some point.
I assume it's an identical plug on the Sherman.

Agreed - and yes, it appears to be identical from the pictures. It's an XS12 5 pin.
It's awful for soldering for adapters / a new torch / a replacement pedal lead, and the push fit/remove thing is just awkward to use. On the sherman pedal (which itself seems nice and solid), they'd ground off the strain relief/cable grip, and just heatshrunk over the two cables too (which as you might expect, did not last too long, hence the above).

If you get them elsewhere, check the connector gender carefully - they typically have the M/F the other way around.

I would not be surprised if this (the socket on the welder) is one of the first things to replace.

Sorry I stuck it in the loft...I'll get a proper play when I next have a day off....which is probably going to be some time at the end of July!

Plenty more arriving this week though by the sounds of it on here. Definitely feels very nicely made...solid build I think....so far visually I'm happy so now it's a case of how well it can weld.

No point having all the bells and whistles if I can't play a tune!

That piqued my interest, so I just went to have a look. To let you know, re: the hidden menu, it does appear to work (well, this comes up if I hold down the buttons during power up). Would be good to know more from those in the know

Been looking at these machines as I would like a proper TIG machine but don't want to pay over the odds for hobby use. I cant understand why there is so much variation in price, I've found from £579 to £533 for the same machine (a 206p) with a pedal inc postage. Its cheaper on their web site but that doesn't inc postage.
Has anyone found it cheaper?
I would hate to buy it then find it somewhere for less.

Also what are the collective thoughts on the 216p model? Its 40 euros less on the web site with consumables.

BTW the Sherman EU website, if that is what you are referring to? does include postage or at least it did for me.

I went with the web site...think I paid £550 with pedal and the extra accessory kit (inc postage). At checkout you can choose to pay in euro which I did as my car has a very good rate (I got 1.14 I think)

Was the main reason I bought it....it's all good saying they cases look similar but when you look inside and they are pretty much identical I decided to get it before they all disappeared!

I've been looking at the Sherman for months trying to work out how similar it was to the Jasic...the pics are pretty conclusive I think.

This is the one i went with, through weldes.DE which seemed good, but i got stung by paypal on the exchange rate got to watch ebays currency conversion prices! As mr Pigeon says probably best with a credit card

Yes once its in that mode if you turn it to 06 then press the button you will get single digits as in 1 and 0 . This should be set to 1 as its for HF . If you set it to 0 then you have lift tig. I have have list somewhere but that the main one you may want to use

I would be quite interested to see what the functions do if you can find the list
