Cleaned up lovely and the jaws are in good condition. Is it actually a record or a copy? It's doesn't say record in it just made in England and no3 rd68982 id say it's on par with my other record vice.
Any of you chaps no how large the record drill press vices went up to.

Yes. I want that big oneRecord 645 is the highest I believe. There’s the 412/3/4 series if you want a toy vice, but for something heavier a 643/4/5 is better. I have a 643 and despite an idiot trying to kill it, it’s beautiful
Yes that will do nicelyAre you thinking of something for your camel back drill? How about something like this one?
Self centering, pivots on it's base & vertically. That's it sitting on my cb drill so it's huge & weighs over 50 kg!
You can pick these up quite cheap, I think I paid £30 for this one. Due to their size & weight they are only suitable for very large mills or drills, a small market.
Considering that the movable jaw required some work, it would take a long time for the shiny face to develop a patina to blend in with the rest of the surfaces; so I decided to paint it, but maybe I should have only painted the jaws, and not the base ? View attachment 148045
