A few more (blacksmiths' vices) and the bricks will be redundant.

Good thing about big old vices - a touch of care every few months and a little oil of any kind and they live long, even outside in England (Ireland, Wales, Scotland might be just a bit too wet?).

Gotta love an old leg vice. Mine was seized and resisted heat, penetrating oil, hitting, threats and prayer. One night out of shear desperation I put it on the bonfire and left it; vowing to weigh it in the next morning. Low and behold the heat had the desired effect and I was able to disassemble it, clean, repair and reassemble. Worked like a charm ever since.

Might be =rarest as it's the only one slathered in red and listed (nearly wrote selling, which would be doubtful) at 800 quid. (=rarest because there are plenty hopeful sellers of stuff out there).

Having said that it's quite interesting under the red (I might even bid if starting was £25)

There was a nice old Leiden or Boley on ebay a few months ago - but £999 - when I next looked a month or two later it was relisted at £799 -- I think after several months the same picture had £399 (or less) as price - any of us buy it? (not me)

I have the baby brother of that vice, they're nicel... oh and they are a bit rare ... but not £800 rare .... not £400 rare ..... perhaps £200 rare if you are in the US ..... worth baring in mind that US vices don't command the same premium in the UK that they do in the US though.

I've noticed that, and was able to acquire a Columbian 504 vise like the one my Dad had when I was young. Speaking of high dollar vises, currently on the bay of evil there is a Wilton baby bullet vise for £ 758.90 or a Thousand Dollars equivalent.

Here's another one that I have. It's a vice designed to hold a guitar without damaging it. It holds the guitar firmly and allows you to work on each part of the instrument without fear of the ting being damaged by vice jaws. It is bolted directly to the bench and revolves centrally. This ones not mine. mine is well used and put away at present as I have not fixed a guitar for a while.
