I have got the front winch off of one these on my 2A!
Yes I'd seen that, I've seen others like it before and it is very similar/ virtually identical to a Fortis.

Charles Parker 2x vice. Lovely little survivor, unfortunatley is missing the retaining collar (does anyone have one ??, I could get a new one cast off it) got some washers folded that work.
According to sources on the net it must be pre 1930 as they changed the central boss on the handle.
I don't suspect many of these made it to the UK ?
Think it's original paint either that or it was re-painted many many moons ago
It's had the oily rag treatment and a grease up, the jaws are in remarkable condtion given it's age

Nice one --- interestingly, C Parker got into a few UK retail catalogues with their range especially pre WWI alongside the established English Parkinsons, and the newish English Record and Woden.
My Samsonia model J that I stripped down, cleaned off and repainted a few years ago, belonged to my grandad, then my dad, pinched the web of my thumb a good few times in the handle growing up. Only problem is the screw is quite worn at the near end so if tightening up on anything smaller than an inch or two it jumps. Don’t suppose anyone has a good screw for one of these?

Definitely excess wear on the screw? Upping the spring tension may stop it skipping, if the screw isn't overly worn. One extra click is usually enough. With it being a buttress thread, the screw would have to be very worn to be a problem.
the screw did look a bit rounded, ive got a photo of it all apart but not sure how well you can see it. its also worse on the right side of the jaws than the left. usually you can tighten it up as much as you want if its something small in the left hand side of the jaws but if its in the right side ( or something that fills the jaw) it will skip.

Did you clean all the old grease out of the threads too? I'm assuming you did.yeah, its seen a smidge of wear in its life 
, hopefully someone will come along with a decent main screw for me. .that photo was right after id pulled it all apart, after that i scrubbed everything/ stripped it all back to bare metal and then set about making it pretty.

From the photos it looks like the front jaw, or the casting, has been drilled slightly out of parallel with the opposite side ?

Governor had their own catalogue of tools but didn't (I believe) make their own -this is v like Parkinson Handy early version - so maybe over 100 years old?
and after your fine work, ready for the next 100
just needs bolting down to that kitchen table and some more tools moving in and you have the start of a second workshop
very nice --- Governor brand in case anyone missed that -- and the symbol is the old steam engine governor- the two balls that swing out with speed of rotation and close a valve - it's a great marking
