Nice vice. Is the customer going to make new jaws also ? Many of the old vices we see have jaws with enough enough meat on the top & ends to allow milling or grinding out the damage for a fresh looking a restoration; it would certainly add to the appeal of using it and bump up the value when selling.A Fortis No11 I’ve done for a customer - the customer will make their own Tommy bar, and I was to supply the rest of the vice in restored condition. Such a nice shape, really cool.

Seem quite common in the US under the name of Massey which licensed the design from Wilson Riley in the UK.An Entwistle and Kenyon bench vice. Lever operated - these must be rare as by now.

Went back to have a rummage where I found the last Swindens and found this one for £5 its stiff and locking handle missing but ideal for my grinding bench when its cleaned up.
Looking forward to see how your 84 turns out. I have another 84 that needs a bit of a spruce up but not sure I want to prep and then paint that one too.A quick question:
I now have beeswax granules, turps, linseed oil, tung oil etc. What would you recommend for a machine wax please? I’ve decided my Record 84 will be naked, unlike the wonderful example above...
Opps not intentional it was a friend to friend price not for selling onYou're just posting these to **** people off now, aren't you.
both you and the diesel have used green - my copy of this vice (E&K) is 'nude' but does have some traces of green underneath which I thought was just an overpaint but may they were originally green? that's 3 of these straight away - maybe they're not as rare as I thought or did they just gravitate to our 'club'
and the Vono -- I have a swivel in good nick - bought from right next to the old Vono works - but one size smaller - No 3 - however it is quick release - there was also a 3C (compact?) - same width jaws but no QR and lighter/smaller (still pretty solid) - the Record 2 of many years faithful service has to go and be replaced by the Vono swivel base plus a Vono swivel jaw woodworking on the bench in the garden greenhouse - when the seedling season quietens I hope to sneak this past my wife but I think I'll have to 'fess up but somehow make it look like we're gaining bench space
nice vices, folks - what's next, looking forward
I should add that mine is green because I had that paint left over after painting a SwindensMine isn’t restored. Someone has attacked it with a green aerosol. Correlation does not equal causation!
