Never knowingly used a vice fixed in this way. Is this method as reliable as the norm, or does the body pivot on the bolts when under heavy use?

Several of the earliest English cast iron vices had bench-side screws like this but there is usually another fixing hole under the slideway - in combo makes a secure fix which stays put.
(the type I mean is generally some kind of transition between leg vice and cast iron, or a small version of the one shown by rwd3 - eg the 'made in England' (by whom?) small versions, up to 2 3/8in jaws from about 1910)

As @dannysheff mentions, there is another mounting bolt under the slideway:
I haven't used it in anger and to be honest, I'm unlikely to. I have these for when the going gets tough!

I've had a weak moment, and bought another machine vice. 
Obviously thought it would be a good idea to have an unnecessary project to clean up while snowed in ?

No snow worth mentioning at the moment, but the Postman had a bit of a challenge with ice while delivering the parcel this morning.

Listed for sale as a Spencer Franklin vice, but we know that was just the sales agent for Sevo vices in the UK.

I realise we ought have a bench grinder thread for things like the following, but this is, hopefully, my next project. Tidying up this. Just a quick tart up, not a full overhaul. It runs sweet as a nut as is. Merely looks rough. Baldor.
I've made a shelf unit outside the workshop, with a spot for that, (or any other), grinder, so that I can grind outside tbe workshop itself. Don't want grinding dust in the workshop.
I've set the shelf for that around 42" in height, so that the grinder(s) will be closer to eye level, rather than going with a typical bench height of around 32" to 36" or so, & having to stoop slightly.

I've got an older Tull 6" which is very smooth, seemingly regardless of what I fit either end.
And a newish Titan 8" which makes my whole shed resonate

I will be doing. Never got the originals, unfortunately. Considering I only paid a tenner for it though, I wasn't complaining.
Used to just use a block of wood as a rest, but now I have that press brake, I've no excuse for not making something more befitting of it.
