All far too clean and tidy.I finished doing up my rusty seized Record 34 vice which I bought for about £10 in a car boot sale about 20 years ago and have just got around to posting the pics as I am pretty pleased with the result. I did consider painting it in Record Blue but finally tarted it up with Hammerite. Fabulous to use. Real quality.

Must admit my preferance is in its original condition but mechanically refurbed , or if needs must original colours ,saying that though if your using it hey ho what ever you fancy or have on the shelf makes sence as long as its saved/used eh
agree , more dark green and cream myself, or admiralty grey with red oxide internal..C'mon. Dark green & red is a classic combo. Anything looks sexy with that colour pairing.
Or crab fat gray and deck green.agree , more dark green and cream myself, or admiralty grey with red oxide internal..

Not blue unction then?Crab fat, strictly speaking, is blue (Cossack Blue, I believe).
They all have P cast in them, it was then ground out on assembly if a QR version. That vice just has had a poor job of grinding hence some of it still visibleInterestingly it has 34 P cast in - quite rightly you've not highlighted the "P" as this, I think, refers to "Plain screw", ie not the buttress quick release which yours undoubtedly is.
You know, that, again, reminds of a girlfriend I had once! They all have P cast in them, it was then ground out on assembly if a QR version. That vice just has had a poor job of grinding hence some of it still visible

She was also not good at “grinding” and I had to swop her for a Swedish trainee who had excellent experience in a Swedish steel works with high alloy steels.
That worked well until she arrived one day with Swedish pickled herring and gerkhins for her lunch…. frightened the life out of me She sucked each cornichon and then bit it in half! Sheesh - I was gone in seconds…
Ps. I think I’m in trouble with admin now!! Or Danny … eeeeeeeek!
That will teach me to post whilst on hols in France after a couple of bourbons!!!
