I'd buy the 9 from you, but alas you are 190 miles away from me and a 380 mile round trip makes for an expensive vice collection journey.
Guys,I'd buy the 9 from you, but alas you are 190 miles away from me and a 380 mile round trip makes for an expensive vice collection journey.
I've about 36 vices, no more space, my shelves are sagging with the weight and due to personal issues I've just got to let them go.
Let me know if interested, no obligation at all. I can send photos and prices.

I haven’t heard of an instant grip. I think it is best described as leaver action or cam lock.is that an instant grip vice
I feel your pain. Only a little while back management asked if I had a couple of pairs of pliers she could use with her pupils for something she was doing. I gave her 27 pairs to take to school and keep. And I still have upwards of 20 in a tool chest. On a positive note I seem to have my ratchet screwdriver addiction under control.Over the years its been a fun pastime referbishing old quality tools and vices when I've happened across them, but like anything in life, we sometimes move on to other interests. I'm at that stage now, where I have more vices (about 40) than I will ever use, taking up room that's much needed for other things; as currently, I have to turn sideways and exhale to negotiate the narrow pathway through my garage.
That's what it is, pattern makers vice. For a woodworker one of the most useful bench vices you could have. Expensive, heavy and absolute pigs to fit, Emmert are the manufactures I remember making them.Pattern makers vice, there have been a few manufacturers of that design over the years.
I'm a real composting fan, but that's it's going to take a while to compost down with the rest of the contents of your binThis is the leg vice I took off, it has been amazingly useful but made the bench rather top heavy and unwieldy. I intend to bolt it to a railway sleeper, eventually. Once again this was a gift from management.

A fan of compost? It takes all sorts to make a world, or so it would seem.I'm a real composting fan, but that's it's going to take a while to compost down with the rest of the contents of your bin

That seems a reasonable reason. My experience of vices is limited to just the one I own. Is this offset common on most/all vices?I would guess that it's so they are further from the edge making it less likely to crack out of the casting in heavy use.
