I obtained this last week when I spotted someone about to dump it at the local tip
Unbelievable what people throw away!
Any adVICE on how to strip it down for a clean up? There's a load of weld strikes on the sides I might grind off carefully but it's not in bad condition as far as I can see.

Wind out the moving jaw.
Undo the square bolts holding the Half Nut.
Undo the two C/sunk screws holding the Captive plate for the Release bar.
Slide out the screw and bar.
The single screw holding the bar in will be a "nasty item" to remove.

As will the 4 C/sunk screws holding the jaws in place.
Time and het are your friends.


Don't bother removing the sliding handle, just clean up with a wire brush.
As will the body.

The rest us simple, any ? Pm me.
I will eat a coffee and get back to you.

There's a very unusual, and obviously multifunctional vice currently on the bay of evil. Described as a "Warsop Petrol & Drill Ltd. Vice". It appears to be missing some functional accessories , but worth a look for avid vice-a-holics, I mean collectors.

Yes. The little one holding the bar to the lever. Sometimes a doddle, other times a pain.

Oh a Good Impact wrench will help with the jaws as well.

I'm not sure how far I'll take this apart as I really don't have time to do it but I like old vices so you never know.

I have one - also without some attachments - as I go for the unusual ones, I replaced my Record 74 - does the same job - pleased with result.

I've seen a few partial vices on the bay of evil. Always seem to be the fixed jaw base part, and unfortunately, I've never seen a moving jaw for sale.

The jaw insert looks to be in good condition. If I can find a big enough lump of steel I'll make a moving jaw for it.

Wanted one of these for a while now - in good nick but I will weld up and re drill the handle ole so it's tight again and straighten the handle out some as it's too wavy for my liking.

Here's one radically diff from anything I've seen - not mine - from a pic posted by someone who saw it elsewhere (so not my copyright)

- amazingly well preserved
I abs love it but find choice of which material to use where rather puzzling --- yr thoughts?
