Lurking in the shadows, search posts for info but never post much but had read a lot of threads about vices recently here so said i’d take a pic of them to post

Looking at a local auction site to see if there's anything I can spend my children's inheritance on I came upon these chaps. The two on the right look commonplace, but the one on the left looks interesting. I thought at first it was a broken wood vice, but it's not and that offset is intentional.I'm sure there's someone on here who knows what it is.

" Colt " is also a name that these vice's are designated by. The largest I have seen is with 6 inch wide jaws. The smaller ones are sometimes listed as Jeweller's vice's, on the bay of evil site.

yes it's a Colt/DOHM/Wilson, but in this case extra large and weld fabricated from steel plate (as were Record Leader and their predecessor Herbert Armourer), rather than cast as most of their models --- I have one and did show a pic way back in this thread - scarce

Just finishing my prototype 1018 vice
Had to install a jib crane as it’s just heavy enough to be exhausting when trial fitting sliding jaw over and over

Love it. Millers Falls made some great tools. They were built to last forever.

Love their hand drills, especially No 1 and 5 and the No 12 breast drill. Mine are 100 years old and still used on a regular basis.
