I'm not gonna put you out of your misery wondering about competition. I'm saying nowt. Be prepared to have fairly deep pockets with that one though. As CW says, they usually command a decent price.

Ive just been and put a square on the shelf the dynamic jaw rides on and the back jaw is square to it. It doesnt seem to be bent.
If any of you guys were closer id give you this vice, spares or repairs.

Why don't you mount it and just use it as is? Even if there is slight curvature, it should still work a treat for pretty much everything your liable to do.

They tend to appear more over the pond than over here. Decent for general work apparently, but not much cop on the anvil front. Okay for light duty work, but a few have been broken by being used as a proper anvil. I quite like them, to be honest. They're quirky.

Is that your Cornish Swindens? If it is it looks to have cleaned up well, was it seized at all?

It was seized solid. I'll post up a thread if interested. Electrolysis, car jack, lathe: it has issues!

Its cast iron and it has a hollow base. Thats a design fail in my opinion. CI is supposed to be heavy!

rubbish, its hollow underneath and the jaw broke off without even abusing it!

I bought on of these. Not easy to find one with a decent opening

Can't think of any cast vice I've ever seen which has a solid base.
