Picked up a woden 3/b today for 4 quid, pretty chuffed as it's in pretty good condition, not any hammer marks, were a couple of bits of spatter that I knocked off and a small cut on one of the jaws.
Will upload a picture when I remember but in the mean time does anyone have any info on this model, can't seem to find any mention of it online?
Your model number sounds incomplete, they usually go like 189 B/3. I wanted a big woden to match my 7" woodworking vice but they were far too expensive, so I settled for my record.
Gonna hazard a guess and say this is a 186B/3 late model, 4 inch jaw, 1/4 turn anti-clockwise QR. Nice! Looks like it's never worked a hard day in its life...
This is what happens when you spend 40 years collecting metalworking tools... He taught me well (or badly depending on your view on hoarding), I remember as a 10yr old dragging a leg vice back from the auto jumble at the gdsf back to our marquee. Seemed like a bloody long way to carry a leg vice.
Well you only have to look at the prices of the 112/114 or 36 none of which weigh as much as the 634 but all cost in the £800+ range. As I've heard many times before "if you don't ask you don't get"
That pole shoe screwdriver looks interesting, never heard of them before but looks like it's for assembling old motors. Everyday is a school day
I agree with the pole shoe screw driver, would make easy work of removing or fitting the field coil/iron on starters etc.we used to use impact driver.Arther
