Going to have a vice clear out so which is better a No 10 Fortis unbreakable with small anvil on back or a record of the same size?
Well I hav just bought record cast iron tale stand thing the tops square and the base is triangular and the Fortis holes don't line up so I will try the record tonight as that may make the choice for me, I suppose the Fortis would sell well? What would I ask? Its fine but the jaws are a bit smoothIt's a very hard choice there mate, as I have both a 50 year old + Fortis Unbreakable and the same size 30 odd year old Record on either end of my work bench the both get used several times each day and I cannot choose between them.
Depends entirely on what model the Record is, the Fortis is a steel vice whereas some Records are cast iron e.g the No 5. I would keep a steel vice in preference to a cast iron vice, all things being equal you would get more money selling the Record.Going to have a vice clear out so which is better a No 10 Fortis unbreakable with small anvil on back or a record of the same size?

ThanksIt is, I reckon the Record would get more money but we aren't talking a fortune so go with whatever one you feel like knowing either way that you have a good vice
Thanks, whilst I am a Record vice fan I just like the Fortis so its staying, might have to paint it orange though as I can't find any blue in the garage and I am too tight to buy any paintProbably, you could always try find the catalogue and see what it was advertised as. I'd do the same as you, keep the fortis and sell the record
