Aye, my first road bike, I remember the big end giving up after a long run at full throttle, replaced with an Alpha roller bearing conversion.
Speedtwin paintwork was good![]()
Paint was done a long time ago by East Coast Choppers in Forfar on the Speed twin. You would probably like the paintwork on my old Ariel:

Who did you get to chrome plate the tank ? I have to get the tank off the golden flash done.
Bloke working on the house behind mine wanted a harley. I suggested he talk to a mate, who is a bike breaker and often had some Harleys for sale. My mate flogged the builder a pretty ropey sporty chop. What did the builder pay? A speedtwin like the one in the pic above, a girder speedtwin that was aSpeedtwin paintwork was good![]()

until an unplanned excursion into the kitty litter at rockingham national in april left the bike in bits and me in hospital with a fractured pelvis and pneumonia.
Now the bike looks like this after winning some Chinese fairings on ebay for £100, still prefer the stealth look.![]()

Nice, love those Kawasaki's. I had and R reg one (H1 model) - cracking bike!!Given that the better weather is with us again and following on from a conversation with arther i am posting a few pics of my gird. she is called nigella the ninja and is a 1994 kawasaki ZX6R, she has a full stainless race system and has been dyno jetted and tuned, quite quick for an old gird and a bit shouty.View attachment 85270 View attachment 85271 View attachment 85272
what do you guys ride????
Some cracking bikes there lads.
Right I suppose I'll have to be the first to admit to being a softy. After many years of sports bikes, I finally succumbed and got the "old man's bike". As the majority of my miles are two-up, on holiday with the missus, it kind of makes sense in some ways (when I don't think too hard).
It's obviously comfy, but compared to my previous bikes (ZX12R - chucked it at Knockhill track), it's dog-slow, but works well for what I use it for.
I still hanker after a mint GPZ900R, my first big bike back in the eighties.
Alternatively, I might get something to scare the bejeezus out of me - I kind of miss that too.
Oh aye - the last picture is one of my almost finished propane tank to air receiver conversion - just need to drill through the wall. and do the connection now.
