Although the 954 was my favourite that was my issue with them. Strange as it sounds they just did what you told them to do. Mine was a 2006 model and it was fast, and nimble but it lacked that character. Ive had gsxrs kick out the back and loft the front unexpected and zx10s were a nightmare with head shakes and abrupt power bans but the blade would only ever step out of line if you did it on purpose. I know we want to stay on them and I'm not insane before its suggested I just loved bikes with personality and the RR had none.

I had a fireblade RR6 identical to that for a while. While it was a super bike it was lacking something. It was too good at everything and lost the kwirks that I love in bikes.
I took her to Cadwel once and she was the easiest thing in the world to throw around. Shagged my sliders in one day. Wouldn't have another though.

Yes, it was a flawless bike, so stable. It killed sportsbikes for me. I know i couldnt go faster on public roads on any other bike, so that was the end, along with the roads getting worse and worse condition.
Now i ride supermoto and it was like finding a new religion,wicked fun on horrible roads and no chance of getting busted doing over a ton.

Get a 916, if your head is not right it knows it and won't play ball. Might as well go back to garage and park up, or stop and have a brew.
When you get it together its brill. I traded mine in for 748 and that was a hoot, the 748SP was even better.
999 and 749 dumbed down versions to fit in with Japanese tackle, which are great bikes but just don't float my boat.

If your looking for a looney mental bike that devotes no tolerance to human Error look no further than the TL1000s in its standard form. (Original rear suspension with no steering damper). I Had a brief go on with with a damper fitted and was very happy to return it.

My mrs rides a blue 600 hornet like has been posted already, lovely bike to ride and can be quite nippy if you give it some.
I currently have a 2006 zx6r, it used to look like this:

until an unplanned excursion into the kitty litter at rockingham national in april left the bike in bits and me in hospital with a fractured pelvis and pneumonia.
Now the bike looks like this after winning some Chinese fairings on ebay for £100, still prefer the stealth look.

I paid £500 for it sight unseen. I'm not a rich man so I tend to go for the super cheapies, tart them up and swap them on. I do tend to keep the strokers though.

Funny enough, that one was in BIKE! magazine not too long ago. They rang me up and asked if I would like to be in an "owners buying a classic from their past" article. Sure I said.

Bit later Chip (the photographer) rings up and says "when can I pop round to do the mid-life crisis shoot?".

I love my r1, there's a massive sense of achievement to be felt after riding one quickly and still being alive at the end of it

The Tl1000r was no where near as likely to put you off as the S dispite it's power advantage.

Was driving down a large hill (a83 rest and be thankful) and had overtaken some trucks, pulled in and brakes almost non-existent, pulled a muscle in my forearm. I am used to old bikes with drum brakes, they were far worse than any old bike. Used the gears to slow.

Took it to BMW dealer by van and was told it was the abs valve block, bike just out of warranty, was going to cost £1200 for repair, I ended up paying £800 of it. Put me off buying another bike with abs.

Pity, loved the bike, sounded great with vanderlinde exhaust and rechipped by BMW.

The ABS is pretty easy to remove. Hardest bit is keeping the speedo working since it takes a reading off the ABS input whereas the non-ABS takes it from the hub.

Gotta agree, they are a cracking bike. My first non-jap bike and I wish I'd tried one out a long time ago. I love the engine and the handling, though a bit more power wouldn't hurt.
