What's the type/name of that type of saw Dan?

you will find most of the Leading names market a model to cut steel etc, Sealey,DEWalt,Makita EVolution, then your up into a more rebust style of machine and Holzmann do quite a nice range and I would expect this style of "industrial" machine to have a coolant pump available. A quick search of Metalcutting circular saw will wet your appetite,As you would expect blade sizes vary and the bigger they go the more expensive they get.

I just got very lucky. A guy imported it in a container with a load of other machines and put it on eBay.

They took me about an hour. The machine has a built-in micrometer stop so it was just a matter of adding 65 thou to each shim thickness for the parting blade.

When I part I never get the finish I would need on the parted edge.....hows that done ?

Locking the saddle off will help. Are your gibs set correctly, is there a lot of play in the lathe?

Lock the saddle, snug up the gibs, super-sharp tool (without rake for brass) and dial the blade in square with a dial indicator so it don't drag on the sides. Be brave with the in-feed.

I had the same problem for a while, until someone told me that parting tools are the absolute hardest tool to set up. So I spent some time making sure it was square and really well centred and now it cuts beautifully. I have it permanently on its own toolpost so I never have to disturb it and I use a lozenge type so I can change the tip without disturbing anything when it gets blunt.

You ain't alone in doing stuff like that. Half of us can probably never get owt resembling a decent photo 'cos there ain't enough room for us to get far enough away.

When I picked up the M300 bits, from Slideway Services, they were on with rebuilding a Tool Room Hardinge, I'd never seen one in the flesh, very nice indeed.
