I can give you more.
We get lots through MIS.
Good ones are very good.
But most are shot with age, abuse and use. SIF were running them out by the ton!! Almost every army veichal in WW2 had one in the tool box.
If you find one with a Brass chuck it is worth a few ££££££££.
They are very had to find.
Looks like it has an adjustable jacking point on the back end where you push from the overhead Steelwork above the new position you want a hole.They are all girly drills, hears my offering:

Just like my Fathers, I remember him using it. Ruddy thing was worn out and jumped the gears when I used it but he just laughed as he had the knack of using it.
The orange one brings back memories, clamped to the bench running flat out with a polishing mop doing the covers on my C15T and SS50 with Solvol! I think it was at my brothers house when I cleared the bikes out after he died. Black & Decker used to have a factory just north of Heathrow and there was an outlet where you could buy reconditioned drills or do an exchange.

Kinda off topic but connected. Decided to make a rack for my reloading dies, connection is I need to drill holes. Thought entered my head, wonder if the old drill has any life. Got it back out, did nothing to it, plugged it in. She’s alive! No hammer action but the chuck turns.

the handle is just the right size to get your fingers round and when or if the drill shorts to earth if the mains cable earth is loose or broken you squeeze like hell and your blood boils the pain is excruciating and you snuff it unless you get free of it 
I got hold of the live terminal on a cooker and earth in the other thecooker was supposed to be turned off but the switch was bust and it wasn't . nearly snuffed it but was lucky work with the stuff all the time and live testing but it learnt me a lesson more safe isolation and don't take it for granted

I can’t say I’ve seen one of those before but it looks like a good bit of kit. With that power rating and those low speeds I don’t think I’d be using it without the stand!
Good luck finding a switch, hopefully one turns up.

if it wasn't getting taken off the stand id just fit a simple metal double pole on off switch on it

The B&D in my original post has been hard at it all weekend mixing large quantities of self levelling compound, it’s been puttting some shifts in of late!
No,they were a set of straight handlebars off my Honda 550.+ an angle grinder handle for comfort.Nice, I like it. I see you’ve sensibly added an extended handle, was the kink in it intentional or did the drill do it?

I have no time for old drills, even though they were made well... Nice to look at, not nice to use IMO
Dad has a MT2 Wolf gut buster. It's horrible to use, and certainly earned its name. Has a very stiff "safety" trigger that means you practically have to embed your finger inside the drill to power it.
He also has one of those black+decker orange drills, actually it was mine (£5 from a car boot sale when I was 10) but... variable speed control?
My uncle has one too, he also has the attachments for it to turn it into a sander or a circular saw... bit lethal but I suppose a bit revolutionary in the 70's! See bottom left

OK I have time for this vintage "corded drill", it's my brothers Pollard, we went down to Blackburn last year for it, and I re-kitted it with new wiring and switchgear. Spindle speeds from 226-2920, height adjustable table AND quill, and the spindle play is non-existent despite its age.
I have never seen such an overbuilt 2MT sized drill press in my life until we collected this, and if I could get a well-priced 3MT version for myself I'd be a happy man (and i keep looking, too!)
I wish he would give it a lick of paint.

Aye, two speeds - slow and fast.
I used to have a couple of the accessories for mine - the hedge trimmer and sander, I don't recall them surviving 'normal' 
use. Drill's still a good 'un though.

I’ve got one of the hedge trimmer attachments somewhere, someone borrowed it & the drill from me, & cut through the lead. Big flash, fuse blown & a much shorter lead! It wasn’t as good as a modern hedge cutter, but it worked surprisingly well. I also had a jigsaw attachment for it, that was ok, no idea where that went.
