Lol. The workshop was a disaster that day.

Added a drawer to cart today. It was old scrap I used for my soldering station, which I have sold on, and upgraded to a rework station. Turns out it fitted exactly, a bit of 2x1 and spare drawer runners and jobs a goodun'.

So for the past 30 years I've been using this trolley for the welder, works fine, but with less floor space now I'm trying to rationalise my junk.

I also have this and old hospital trolley I think. Usually just covered in rubbish and a dumping ground.

Two castors removed and replacements fitted to extended 'chassis'!

The obligatory chain to retain the bottle which is sat on some extra bracing.



Gives me room for the MIG, Plasma cutter, box of cutting discs etc.. and an extra shelf for clamps and other welding related paraphernalia.
And still leaves me a work surface free for filling up with rubbish ...
Just needs a couple of hooks for cables, torches etc.. and maybe a fire extinguisher.

On the Mk1 version of my trolley I had both gas bottles [BOC Y size] on the rear, but it made hauling the welder to the door a bind - I have to do my welding outside as the cave is a wood-build.

I soon got sick of that, so they're now secured to the shed wall and I just have to connect the longer hoses when needed.

SKIP RAID!! They have been doing up the office next door for a few weeks, and i've been badgering the builders about passing across this if it was being skipped. Well this morning the fruits of my labour came to fruition. Shy loon's get nowt as they say.

Its huge, with lots of shelves, sides and supports. Not sure whether to cut it down (only got a Rtech 180 and cut 50 plasma), or keep it the same size and make it more like a mobile workbench. I'm sure a good read this thread will bring up some nifty ideas and inspiration.

Set of locking metal castors would be first on this list (yes, i'm eyeing up our rubbish bins )

well it’s been a while. Bought some castors and a vice for about 40quid total, and it sat in the corner and on the to do list for quite a while, but there she goes. Considered many options, but lacking in workbenches I went full size. Also full height being 6”2. Gives a nice height for intricate work. There’s also plentiful storage. Wheels around the shed well too. There’s an fundamental design flaw, which to be honest isn’t much of an issue- whoops. Probably an easy spot?!

begged and borrowed 6mm plate for the top and some box section. Scraps of wood and found a use for that minty old Tim of black hammerite.

only owes me 40 quid

The box is for all my clamps - current project is restoring a Morris Minor and the panels take a lot of clamping in place to get the fit right before welding

What's on the opposite side? I take it you can't clamp them to the other side of the trolley

Easy way to store a lot of clamps I guess. Store all mine in a Stanley toolbag at the moment. I was thinking of getting a Toughsystem tote for them, but when zipped up the bag keeps any grinder dust from getting all over them when not in use.

@Yamhon with them all clamped in a row it makes grabbing what you need far easier!

If I was a mobile guy, Then throwing them in a bag or box would be my next option

I do sometimes clamp them around the rim of the box, but try to keep the trolley as narrow as possible so not on the trolley side - the Minor is on a spit and space is limited on the wall side

Needed a welding trolley, bodged this from scrap. I couldve hidden some of my feck ups with a grinder, feck it. Mig welding in the wind, not being able to see properly, mixed with being a crap welder.......Nearly finished, should do what I need it to

Firstly, there are some amazing welding carts on here.

I'm in the process of building a welding cart to hold my MIG and Arc welders. I have a question about the earth cables. I want to know if I can connect the earth cables of each machine to the to the metal frame of the welding cart, and run another earth strap from the frame, which will then connect to the workpiece.

Is this safe, and is it possible to do without damaging the welders. I'm trying to get excess cables out of the way, and make everything loo neat.

Not sure if I would connect to the frame but it should be fine if you ran them to a dinse socket and then used a single lead from that to the work.

Just to confirm, you mean run each welder to their own Dinse socket, and then run a single lead from the Dinse socket of the welder I want to use?

What I am meaning is get something like this.

Mount that through a hole in your cart and then connect the earth cables from each welder to it then you can just plug in a single earth clamp to run to your work.
