started laying the dash out but think i`ve put the aux power socket and hazard too high.. so may well scrap it and start again....
finished the brackets for the wipers and also chopped the brackets on the frame that would have mounted to the scuttle:
then set about filling in all the bulkhead holes that werent needed.. TEDIOUS to say the least!!
now ya see it:
now ya dont!:
bloody loads over this side!!!
all gone!!
got the dash mocked up but i`m not happy with it.....
going to move the aux power socket and the hazard switch down and move 1 of the toggles (the engine start one) onto that row and move the rear fog up onto top row...
that`ll give 2 banks of 4 and at the bottom (looking from pasenger to driver) hazard - aux - engine start...
i`m not too disappointed as i`d kind of knew i`d be lucky to get the layout right first time...
the 4 push buttons to control the digital dash will be mounted up in the right hand side air vent blanking panel.. (i think they scroll through the display screens and control the lap timing functions of the dash)
the battery master switch will go where those 2 switch holes are to the right of the HORN toggle..
the relay box will be mounted in the dash hidden under the squishy bit in front of passenger..
fuel pumps will be controlled by the ECU via a realy so if i crash into a hideous twisted lump of metal or stall the fuel supply will be cut automatically...
i`d already decided to remake tha panel by then... they were put on so i don`t mix up what switch does what lol despite looking identical theres 4 differnet types....
the original layout was buggin me so i made another:
next job.. mount the facet pump..
first i needed a bracket.. luckily a rummage in the "useful" bucket found a suitable pressing:
i chopped a bit out and capped the ends.. welded some cative nuts in and buzzed it onto the shell:
facets require rubber mounts (something to do with vibrations..) so i found these doing very little on a scania at work and robbed them! works a treat!
swung into BGC for some more shiny shizzle!.. unfortunatly i still need a 180degree fitting to go from the top of the pump to the tank though that should be here thurs/fri and i can get all the pipes as far as the bulkhead:
I'm not keen on the pump in the cabin with you. If a union breaks off in a crash you will have a car full of pressurised fuel in no time, cut off from ECU etc won't stop it quick enough. I saw your post about it on 10 10ths, and I know there's no other way of doing it.
I have OEM tanks on my track car feeding via pipes under the car. I will be changing to an alloy tank in the boot soonish, will take pipes through the car but inside welded in conduit.
I like petrol and fires but not if I'm strapped into a seat in the middle of them!
Make sure you have a plumbed in 4L extinguisher with nozzles pointed at you and between you and the tank - if it all goes up in smoke the barrier of foam between you and the tank will be nice.
Not intending to jinx you, and I think the build quality is brilliant.
i appreciate exactly what your saying... and yes an in car extinguisher system is planned too..
i had considered cutting the tank down in length and hiding the facet inside the box too that way i could always make a lid and cover the lot up.. that may be something to think about in the future..
at least the bosch high pressure pump and swirlpot are now living under the bonnet! lol
Yea i know Demon Tweeks have loads of good stuff.... but it's just way too expensive
Ive been looking to get an extinguisher myself, and that is the best price i have found so far
well... some work has been going on... not much though..
got me steering arms sorted and all fitted up.. now with the ability to move them up and down i can hopefully make bumpsteer history
i then got bored and decided to see just how much camber i can get with my DIY topmounts... LOTS was the answer and probably more than i`ll ever actually need..
i started getting bored of finding a thick layer of dust on everything inside every weekend and started fearing what it would do to my digidash and toggle switches... so... 1 trip to hal-frauds et VOILA!!
then a BIG step forward!! i dropped the engine and box in..
and as luck would have it my DIY inlet manifold looks to be pointing the bodies in perfectly the right direction!
